HMD Global to Unveil Awesome Smartphones at MWC 2018

HMD Global has no smartphones in its pipeline. Last year, they used the MWC 2017 event to unveil their first Nokia smartphones: the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6. They launched three more devices (Nokia 7, Nokia 8, and Nokia 2) later that year. This year is no different. The company will have a massive presence at this year’s MWC 2018, from February 28 to March 1.

Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, announced from this Twitter handle that the company will attend this year’s Mobile World Congress 2018. However, he didn’t mention the product names that will be unveiled at the show, but he did use the word “awesome,” from which we can expect the products to be quite breathtaking.

Among the speculated list of the smartphones that will be unveiled at the event, the Nokia 9 tops the list. The smartphone cleared 3C certification last month, pointing to an early launch. It also earned FCC certification and had been spotted in GeekBench. Nokia 9 will sport a 5.5 inch 18:9 display with QHD (2160 x 1440) resolution and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. It will have 6 GB RAM and 64 or 128 GB internal space. It will feature dual( 12 +13 MP) dual cameras on the rear and is backed by a 3250 mAh battery.

Another Nokia smartphone, Nokia 8 2018, is likely to be unveiled at this event. The device will succeed the 2017 model and have minor upgrades like an 18:9 display. Also, the Nokia 3310 4G variant may be launched along with it. It also recently cleared 3C certification and will come with a 1200 mAh battery and run on Yun OS.

There is also a high possibility of the launch of the Nokia 1 smartphone, which will be launched under the Android Go program. A couple of images of the device were leaked a week ago. As per the rumors, the Nokia 1 2018 will feature an IPS LCD of HD(1280 x 720 pixels) and will offer 1 GB RAM along with 8 GB internal storage. We can expect the display to be around 5.5 inches. It’s not sure what chipset will power the device, but it’s speculated that it will be either a Snapdragon 400-series chipset or a MediaTek one. There will be a single rear camera, and is expected to come with a price tag of around Rs 6,000. We can expect more news about these smartphones from the company in the coming days.
