HMD Global, which manufactures Nokia-branded smartphones, has expressed that it will hold a new media event in which it will launch high-end flagships next January. According to the rumors, the new product conference is scheduled for January 19, 2018. The new Nokia 9 and the second-generation Nokia 8, which is said to be specially designed for Chinese users, will be unveiled at the event.
There has been a lot of hustle and rumors of the Nokia 9. The flagship will have a 5.5-inch QHD (2160 x 1440) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and Full-Screen dual-curved surface screen design. The smartphone will be following the bezel-less trend with a sharp look. It will be powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and will feature a dual-camera setup on the rear accompanied by dual-tone LED flash. It will be available in two memory variants: 6 GB RAM + 64 GB internal space and 6 GB RAM + 123 GB internal space. The device will also support rated IP67 waterproof for water and dust protection. There will be no 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Not much is known about the 2nd generation Nokia 8, but it’s speculated that it will be sporting the same 18:9 AMOLED display as the Nokia 9 but with a 5.3-inch size. Both the devices will initially run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat but will be upgraded to Oreo later. The Nokia 8 was launched in India in September. Nokia has yet to release any official word on these two smartphones, but it’s expected soon.
The Nokia 9 price has also been leaked. The 6 GB/64 GB variant will cost CNY 3,699 (Rs 36,400 approx), while the 6 GB/128 GB will be priced at CNY 4,199 (Rs 41,300 approx), which will put it up against other flagships like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and the recently launched OnePlus 5T. However, the second-generation Nokia 8 price is still unknown.
