Nokia once dominated the mobile phone industry. But ever since smartphones came into the picture, Nokia is finding it hard to make a name for itself. They tried collaborating with Microsoft to launch some Windows smartphones, but that was an epic failure. Nokia finally made a comeback under the shelter of HMD Global, and several Nokia smartphones have been launched since then.
Companies like Samsung and Apple have several fans around the globe, but the same cannot be said about Nokia. When Nokia made a comeback, they did it with the Android One program. All their smartphones came with the Android One Program promise of two major updates. The OS in the Nokia phone was stock Android, and the promise of two major Android OS updates surely excited the customers about timely updates, but that did not exactly follow through.
Last year, when Google released the beta build of Android 11, many OEMs were quick to react to that, and they released early Android 11 builds for their flagship devices. But Nokia did not join in here. They were the slowest to release the Android 11 updates for their smartphones. With the Android One program of Nokia phones, people expected timely updates, but that did not happen at all. There are still many Nokia smartphone users that are still waiting for the Android 11 update.
Nokia Android 12 Update
September 02: Nokia has started the Android 12 Developer Program for the Nokia X20 smartphone. The developer preview program builds are early Android OS releases and are intended for application developers only.
Despite Nokia’s inability to release timely updates, the Android One program still stands. Nokia smartphones with Android 11 or even Android 10 will receive the Android 12 update. Any device with an older version of Android will not receive the upcoming Android 12 update.
Google released the developer preview build of Android 12 just a couple of weeks ago. This gives the developers ample time to work on their apps. But this update is only limited to pixel smartphones. Other smartphone manufacturers will get the taste of Android 12 when the beta build is released in May this year. Nokia, like last year, might not work on the beta build of the Android this year, too. We will witness Nokia releasing the Android 12 update only after Google releases the stable build of Android 12 later in August this year.
So when it comes to Nokia smartphones that came with Android 10 or Android 11 out of the box, the list is small. So right below, we have mentioned all the Android 12 eligible Nokia smartphones.
