Android 15 Update

Android 15 Update: Release Window, Expected Supported Phones

Android is always evolving, with a new version released every year. While the stable Android 14 is still rolling out for many eligible devices, we are already anticipating the release of the Android 15 update. Android 14 brought several new features and stability improvements, and we hope that Android 15 continues on this legacy.

If you are one of the lucky users to experience Android 14 in 2023, you should be rightfully excited for Android 15 in 2024. To add to this excitement, let’s look at the expected release window and a list of supported phones for Android 15.

Android 15 Update: Release Window

Google usually announces a new iteration of Android every year in February. This is the Developer Preview build intended for testing by developers and programmers alike. This year, too, the Android 15 first Developer Preview was announced on February 16, 2024, followed by the Public Beta in April 2024, and finally, the stable release, possibly in October 2024.

Google will likely announce Android 15 at the I/O 2024, which will held on May 14, 2024.

Last year, the stable release of Android 14 was delayed due to technical issues and the fact that Google wanted to merge the launch of the Pixel 8 series with Android 14. With this in mind, we can’t say whether the stable Android 15 update could be released alongside the Pixel 9 series in October 2024.

The Developer Preview is only available for Pixel devices. Other OEMs will only start testing Android 15 on their devices when the Public Beta is out. Regardless, the Pixel devices will always be the first to get the update, whether it’s a Public Beta or a Stable update.

You can expect OEMs like Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO, ASUS, etc., to start testing Android 15 in July/August 2024. As for the stable Android 15, expect it as early as November/December 2024 on your non-Pixel phone.

Stage Time frame
Developer Preview February – March 2024
Beta 1 and 2 April – June 2024
Platform Stability (Beta 3 and 4) June – August 2024
Stable Build October 2024 (Expected)
