Fix Apple Watch watchOS 10 upgrade issue

Fix: Apple Watch Unable to Update to watchOS 10

watchOS 10 is the company’s latest operating system for Apple watches. It was unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference with the latest iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS 14. The OS brought significant improvements compared to its predecessor. The watchOS 9 was also quite a major update.

The latest update features multiple new watch faces and redesigned applications that help to view information quickly. A new Smart Stack feature was created to compile widgets in one place and display them at accurate timings. The watch faces, including the Palette and Snoopy, are now available with watchOS 10. The update brought improvements in cycling mode and hiking mode. The health parameters, including Mental and Vision, are now more refined: a new Mindfulness application plays an essential role. The navigation becomes more accessible with the update.

With so many improvements in the watchOS 10, it is evident that the users must be excited to download the update in their Apple watches as soon as possible. However, recent complaints indicate that the users cannot update to watchOS 10.

Some Users Unable to Install watchOS 10 on their Apple Watches

Several users have voiced their complaints on various social media platforms. Here, the user is trying to install the watchOS 10 update, but the update is paused and says, “Estimating time remaining.” Some users are even indicating that the problem with the update is limited to the cellular data network, and downloading on WiFi is helping them to download it successfully.

Some have even suggested restarting both the Apple Watch and the associated iPhone. But this is only working with a limited number of users. Unfortunately, the official team has not responded to the matter yet. Nevertheless, don’t worry; we have brought you a potential workaround to help you resolve the problem, and you can safely upgrade to watchOS 10. Follow the below-listed steps thoroughly.

Possible Workarounds

  • Before all else, unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone.
  • Ensure the Apple Watch is on the latest watchOS update (watchOS 9.5.1, the last 9.x update). If your watch is not on the mentioned version, you first download and install the watchOS 9.5.1 update on your Apple Watch.
  • Lastly, try turning your ON/OFF your Watch infinite times until you can update to watchOS 10. If the update is not displaying, keep on doing this step.

The steps mentioned above are working and should fix the issue of being unable to update to the watchOS 10 version. Hopefully, you will see an option displaying “Update Now.” And thankfully, you can update to the newest watchOS 10 update.

  1. It didn’t work. I have tried all the above you mentioned. It says downloading to the watch, and after the 0 second remaining appear, it paused and “estimating time..” displayed again.
