Samsung is bringing a big upgrade to the Galaxy S25 Ultra with more RAM on higher storage models. The Galaxy S25 Ultra could sport 16GB of RAM on the 512GB and 1TB variants. More memory means better performance for users.
The Galaxy S25 series is said to be launching on January 22, 2025, at an Unpacked event in San Francisco. The S25 lineup will include the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. Some rumors also suggest a new “Galaxy S25 Slim,” designed to compete with Apple’s thin and light iPhone 17 Air. It is said the S25 Ultra will have the same design as the S24 Ultra but with better performance.
Galaxy S25 Ultra to feature 16GB RAM in higher-end versions
According to tipster @Jukanlosreve on X, Samsung has reportedly planned three RAM and storage variants for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While the base model will come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, the mid and top variants will come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB and 1TB of storage, respectively. It also corroborates the details from a previous leak.

That would represent a major bump from the S24 Ultra, which packed 12GB RAM, regardless of storage variant.
Samsung hasn’t offered 16GB of RAM in its flagships since the S21 Ultra in 2021. More RAM in the S25 Ultra will make the device much more appealing to power users who need top performance for multitasking, gaming, and AI applications. Maybe that’s one of the reasons Samsung has increased its production of Galaxy S25 series units by 2 million over that of the S24 series.
Why is Samsung adding more RAM to the S25 Ultra?
The company wants to stay in the market of premium smartphones; that’s why Samsung has put more RAM in their flagships.
The decision of Samsung to incorporate 16GB of RAM should help it compete directly with others, such as Oppo, Vivo, and Google, which have been offering 16GB of RAM in their flagships already.
It is rumored, too, that the preorder promotions in the US include a free upgrade to the 512GB option. But it could still get a little pricier. Samsung Ultra phones usually have a higher price than their regular versions.
With less than a month to go, the S25 Ultra is shaping up to be the most powerful Samsung smartphone ever. If these are true, the new device will set the bar high for Android flagships in 2025.
