Samsung has officially started rolling out One UI 9 in South Korea, bringing the latest version of its Galaxy software to the Galaxy S26 series. The stable release is based on Android 17 and begins with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The rollout follows several months of beta testing. Samsung opened the One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S26 series in May and has now moved the software into stable release. Other countries are expected to follow, although Samsung has not provided a single global rollout date.
One UI 9 brings new Galaxy AI features
Samsung is putting more emphasis on contextual assistance with One UI 9. The new Now Nudge feature can surface actions based on what users are doing, such as pulling reservation details from a conversation or saving a shared location without switching apps.
Creative Studio also gains event-based suggestions for generating images, while Interpreter adds Thread View so users can refer back to earlier parts of a translated conversation. Samsung says Conversation Mode translation is also faster, with quicker playback available when compatible Galaxy Buds are connected.
The update adds several practical changes outside of AI. My FanCam can track a selected person in recorded video and automatically reframe the footage to keep them centered. Now Brief gains Generative and Editable Cards, letting users customize the information shown in daily summaries.
Security and device management get new tools
One UI 9 also expands Samsung’s device-management options. A new Warranty and Care section in Settings can show warranty information, run diagnostics, provide repair estimates, and offer access to service appointments or Samsung Care+ where supported.
Security Brief adds security and privacy information to Now Brief, including alerts related to malware, unknown-source apps, and unnecessary permissions. Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to flag potential privacy risks involving background permission access.
Samsung is also expanding Scam Detection to more countries and languages. The company lists India, Japan and Canada among the markets receiving the feature, although availability can vary by device, region and software version.
The rollout will expand beyond the Galaxy S26
For Galaxy S26 owners in South Korea, the stable update is now available through Samsung’s software-update system. International availability will depend on Samsung’s phased rollout, with regional and carrier differences expected.
With the Galaxy S26 series now moving to stable One UI 9, attention shifts to how quickly Samsung extends Android 17 to the rest of its supported Galaxy lineup.
