Conflicting sources reveal differing information about the announcement date of the Galaxy S25 series.
There was a leak a few weeks ago that said that the entire S25 series would be available for pre-order on 5th January. However, there were no specific leaks about the launch event date. Usually, the pre-orders go live on the same day as the launch event. So, we could assume the launch event was also on the same day.
For a while now, Samsung has been pushing their launch events earlier. The Galaxy Unpacked events for the flagship S series usually took place in February. They’ve moved it to January, and now 5th January would be among the earliest ever.
However, this leak is possibly fake. As per a reliable leaker, Ishan Agarwal, on X, the S25 series is going to launch on 23rd January 2025, and not the 5th. There’s apparently also a chance that they’ll introduce the new Galaxy S25 Slim alongside this series. This is not confirmed. Samsung could choose to introduce the S25 Slim at a later date, too.
As per leaks, the Slim still maintains a large enough battery while getting a camera upgrade to a “Pro” camera system. The positioning is unclear. If it’s 999$, that’s at the same price as the Plus, and this is an internal clash. It’s better to simply get rid of the Plus model and introduce the Slim since it also has a better camera system than the regular and base.
As per another leaker, Max J on X, the launch event is on the 22nd of January and not the 23rd. On the surface level, these two are conflicting reports. However, if you factor in time zones, both of these could be valid. The 23rd of January in Korea is still the 22nd of January in the USA.

The S25 Ultra is getting a chip boost to the 8 Elite and probably some design refinements. However, most reports claim that the camera hardware hasn’t undergone any major changes. This is disappointing since earlier leaks claimed it would get a 50MP 3X camera. The S25 is an iterative upgrade and looks like it’s just a chip bump to the 8 Elite.
There was confusion on the chipset situation earlier. Some scores of the Exynos 2500 popped up. However, they will apparently be used on some FE models or foldable, not the S series, owing to bad yield rates. Most credible leaks claim the S25 series will ship with Snapdragon worldwide.
