Nokia TA-1047 Passes FCC Certification; Could be New 4G Feature Phone

Nokia has large plans for 2018. After the Nokia 6 2018 certification, the Nokia 9 and unknown Nokia smartphones with model numbers TA-1077 and TA-1062 were spotted on the Chinese certification website. A new Nokia device has passed FCC certification, which was never spotted or seen before. The device with model no. TA-1047 was tested in China and revealed some of its specs.

The new Nokia TA-1047 is not referred to as a smartphone by many other Nokia phones like 6, 7, and 8 but as a GSM/ WCDMA/ LTE Mobile Phone similar to the Nokia 3310 3G, which is a 3G phone. According to the spec list, the device measures 133 x 68 mm, smaller than the Nokia smartphones available but a bit bigger than the classic feature phone. HMD Global may have plans to turn the market by introducing a feature phone with a touchscreen that measures 140 mm diagonally.

The Nokia TA-1047 smartphone supports Bluetooth v2.1+ EDR/ Bluetooth v4.2 LE, WiFi 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n HT20, and support for the GSM/ GPRS/ EGPRS/ WCDMA / HSPA/ DC- HDSPA/ HSPA+/LTE which give other advantages with new market opportunities. The label also mentions it will have dual SIM support, but we can’t use two SIM cards simultaneously with the support for Dual SIM standby. One big blow is that the device will not be available in the US market, as stated in the cover letter. This may hint that HMD Global plans to launch this smartphone in the Asian markets, especially India, which saw the bloom of the 4G market recently. It is not clear when or where the device will be announced or previewed, but it’s clear it will be soon. Nokia does not have a good record of showing devices in events such as CES, MWC, or IFS, so maybe HMD Global will call for a media event in the first quarter of 2018.
