Apple recently released the iPhone 15 Series in the Autumn of 2023. The lineup had 4 phones. The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. All of them got their fair share of upgrades from their predecessors. However, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have one new feature: the action button.
The action button of the iPhone 15 Pro lineup replaced the mute switch Apple introduced back in 2007 with the first-ever iPhone. As the name suggests, the mute switch toggles between the ringer and silent audio profiles. This had become a signature feature of the iPhone and was even implemented similarly by other companies like OnePlus.
However, as mentioned before, Apple replaced this with the Action button for their latest iPhones. You could customize and set specific actions using the action button instead of just switching between two audio profiles.
iPhone 16 Pro Button Changes
Halfway into the iPhone 15 Pro’s cycle, we have gotten CAD renders showing design changes to the buttons. The first change is the enlargement of the action button. The length of the button has been said to increase, making it easier to use.
However, the major change is the addition of a new button, the capture button. This new button will let users take photos without touching the shutter icon on the screen. The new button is said to be on the left-hand side of the phone, where the mmWave antenna was located in the previous models. It is also said to be the same size as other buttons but will sit flush in the frame.
91Mobiles did the CAD renders, and they have a fairly accurate history. Previously, they leaked the CAD renders of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro, which were accurate. However, their Apple Watch Series 7 design was inaccurate.
The website has also made renders of the upcoming iPad 12.9-inch iPad Air and iPhone SE 4. At least one of these two devices might launch before the iPhone 16 lineup. If those renders turn out to be accurate, the accuracy of the new ones will increase.
iPhone 16 Pro dimension changes
Alongside button changes, the iPhone 16 Pro will also get changes to its size. The device is said to measure 149.6×71.4×8.4mm now. This is slightly bigger than the iPhone 15 Pro’s 146.6x 70.6×8.25mm body. However, despite the minor size increase, it is still considered a 6.1-inch display. However, the possibility of a display size increase to 6.3 inches is more likely. The Pro Max model is said to be the same size as the last generation.
iPhone 16 Pro design
Recently, we got some leaks on a new camera module design, which resembled a fidget spinner. However, these new CAD renders make that design unlikely to happen. So, as the story continues every year, the rear design of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will be the same as last year’s iPhone 15 Pro series, which also resembles the design we first saw in the iPhone 11 Pro series.
The design includes a similar squircle-shaped camera bump with three camera sensors, a LiDAR sensor (Introduced in the iPhone 12 Pro series), a flash, and a microphone. This has been more or less the same, with minor tweaks and changes in the camera module size.
