Galaxy A51 One UI 6 Update

Will Galaxy A51 4G & 5G get One UI 6 (Android 14) Update?

Samsung’s next-generation custom skin One UI 6, based on Android 14, will be announced soon. Samsung updates first prioritize the premium smartphones launched by the company, like Galaxy Z Fold and Flip series, Galaxy S series, etc., and then provide it to the other Galaxy devices. The A series is the subsequent series to which Samsung provides updates faster.

According to the estimated assumptions, the One UI 6 Beta program will probably start in August 2023, and the stable version will probably start in October 2023. So, we could expect the Galaxy S23 series to begin receiving Android 14-based One UI 6 from October 2023. Slowly and steadily, the company will release the software update to most of the eligible Galaxy devices by the end of 2023.

Samsung Galaxy A series also gets comparatively more timely updates than the other budget or midrange Galaxy series. Mostly, smartphones are offline-centric, so the A series focused more on software updates, after-sale services, design, etc. The company has launched many devices in the series since its announcement. The popular smartphones launched in the series are Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A71 for 2020. Many people were impressed by the specifications and features offered by the Galaxy A51 and purchased it more than the available options at that time.

The Galaxy A51 4G & 5G was launched in December 2019 with 4G & 5G options, with the 5G variants limited to some regions. The smartphones are timely updated to the latest software and security updates. As the One UI 6 rumors surfaced around the web, Galaxy A51 users are concerned about whether their smartphones will be eligible for an Android 14-based One UI 6 software update. We have discussed the update below; read more to find out!

About Samsung Galaxy A51 4G/5G

Let’s recall one of the popular smartphones – Galaxy A51. Samsung launched the Galaxy A51 in December 2019, offering consumers the required specifications. The Galaxy A51 4G variant was powered by Exynos 9611 processor based on 10nm architecture. The conditions were not good with the SoC as it lags even on routine usage.

The Galaxy A51 4G has an FHD+ AMOLED display with a 60 Hz standard refresh rate. Gorilla Glass protection on the front and the 5G variant carry the same display features. The A51 4G has a quad camera setup at the back with a primary camera of 48MP ½”, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 5MP macro sensor. The Galaxy A51 5G variant had exactly similar camera specifications.

The Galaxy A51 5G smartphone was powered by Exynos 980 processor based on 8nm architecture. The Galaxy A51 4G has a 4000 mAh battery with 15W charging support. On the other hand, the Galaxy A51 5G has a 4500 mAh battery with support for 15W charging.

The Galaxy A51 4G & 5G variants launched in December 2019 shipped with Android 10-based One UI 2 out of the box. At that time, Samsung took a step to provide three years of significant updates and four years of security patches. Since then, smartphones have received timely software security updates and bug fixes.

In February 2021, the Galaxy A51 4G & 5G got the Android 11-based One UI 3 update which brought some design improvements, better design and customization options, lockscreen widgets, wireless DeX, Bixby routines, and performance improvements. Both smartphones received an Android 12-based One UI 4 software update in March 2022. This update brought the beautiful Material You feature, having Color palettes, a new lockscreen, and home screen customizations.

Sooner in December 2022, the Galaxy A51 4G & 5G variants got an Android 13-based One UI 5 software update. This brings an improved color palette, new app icons, smoother and slightly improved animations, better transitions, lock screen customizations, and some more features and usability of Gaussian Blur.

After the One UI 5 update, the Galaxy A51 4G and 5G variants started receiving the latest subsequent One UI 5.1 update in the third week of March 2023.

We can conclude from the above points that Samsung has already satisfied the early 2019 users by providing three years of software updates. They will also keep receiving security updates as per the scheduled timeline. The smartphones were launched at Android 10 and received Android 13, a plus point for an Android user using a phone from 2019.

It is worth noticing that the Android 14 Developer Preview is already out, and there are no significant User Interface changes or any major enhancements that will affect the users to get the update. But being on the latest Android version is always better. However, the company will likely bring its minor features useful for the Galaxy A51 users via monthly or bimonthly updates.

Conclusion

On an ending note, we suggest to Galaxy A51 users that they should not wait for any OS upgrades. Also, we have seen Samsung providing unexpected updates to their old devices, so you can expect an update to bring some of the Android 14 features to your devices. We will update you if anything is up for grabs for the A51 devices. Thank you.
