Vivo X21 Launched with an Under-Display Fingerprint Sensor in China

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has been in top form this year, launching the launched and the Vivo Apex smartphone. The company today launched its latest flagship smartphone, “Vivo X21,” in their market. Along with that, the company also announced another variant of the smartphone named Vivo X21 Screen Fingerprint. The smartphone made an appearance on GeekBench a few days ago.

The Vivo X21 features the traditional fingerprint sensor at the back of the smartphone, while the Vivo X21 UD comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor like the Vivo X20 Plus UD, which is the world’s first smartphone with this tech. Apart from the fingerprint sensor, both smartphones have the same specs.

The Vivo X21 features a 6.28-inch display with a 6.28-inch display with a resolution of FHD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 19:9 which is due to the presence of a top-notch. The display almost covers the whole of the front side, leaving only ultra-narrow bezels.

Under the hood, the device is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 clocked at 2.2 GHz coupled with 6 GB RAM. It comes with two internal storage variants – 64 GB and 128 GB. It can be further expanded to 256 GB by a microSD card.

In the optics department, the smartphones feature a dual camera setup on the rear consisting of a 12 MP primary sensor and a 5 MP secondary sensor. On the front, it offers a 12 MP camera sensor for selfies and video calling; the cameras are equipped with artificial intelligence and the company’s own Rubik Cube technology.

It runs in FunTouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and is backed by a 3,200 mAh battery. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Dual-band Wi-Fi (2X2MIMO), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and micro-USB. Additionally, it comes with a Face Unlock feature and the new virtual assistant Jovi, based on artificial (AI) technology. Vivo has also included an AK436A Hi-Fi chip for an enhanced audio experience.

As for the pricing, the Vivo X21 costs 2899 Yuan (Rs 30,000 approx) for the 64 GB version and 3128 Yuan (Rs 32,000 approx) for the 128 GB variant. It will be available in Aurora White, Drill Black, and Ruby Red color variants. The Screen Fingerprint variants are priced at 3598 Yuan (Rs37,000 approx) and will be available in only two color variants: Drill Black and Ruby Red. Both the smartphones will go on sale from March 24. At this moment, there is no official word from the company about its release in international markets.
