Finally, Samsung announced the Galaxy S25 series at its Unpacked event in San Jose on January 22. Alongside the usual models, which include the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra models, the company also teased a new model in the lineup called the Galaxy S25 Edge.
The Galaxy S25 Edge had been circulating in the rumor mill as Galaxy S25 Slim for a couple of months. And now, the South Korean giant has pulled the curtains of its marketing name. Interestingly, ‘Edge’ branding is not new; Samsung has already used it in its previous Galaxy S series phones. The last model that launched in February 2016 with ‘Edge’ branding was the Galaxy S7 Edge.
From what we have heard so far, it seems the Galaxy S25 Edge will emphasize the slim form factor. Perhaps it could be Samsung’s answer to the rumored iPhone 17 Air—an upcoming slim phone from Apple.
Galaxy S25 Edge leaked release timeframe
Now, you might be eager to know its release date. Unfortunately, there is no official confirmation of its release date. With that being said, an earlier leak from tipster Instant Digital suggested that the Galaxy S25 Edge may be released in May 2025. And according to a Samsung representative (via 9to5Google), the Galaxy S25 Edge is coming “around” April 2025.
For now, you can pre-order the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra to get some offers, such as a free storage upgrade, up to $900 instant trade-in credit, and up to $300 Samsung credit. It is noteworthy that shipping will start on February 7. And for those waiting for the Galaxy S25 Edge, it is still a few months away from release.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge hands-on
At the moment, Samsung has only showcased the Galaxy S25 Edge at the Unpacked event. Thankfully, GSMArena has shared some additional hands-on images of the Galaxy S25 Edge that give us a closer look. We can see the Galaxy S25 Edge features a dual camera unit with two lenses that are placed vertically at the back.
Speaking of its specs, the rumor mill suggests the Galaxy S25 Edge could have a 6.66-inch display, which is similar to the Galaxy S25+. It will likely measure 6.4 mm thick (without the camera module). Other specs could include a 200MP primary sensor, Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset for Galaxy, and Android 15-based One UI 7 UI.
