Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 11

Will Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro Get Android 11 Update?

Redmi, the sub-brand from Xiaomi, successfully created its status in the smartphone market. People have embraced every smartphone from Redmi, and they are quite satisfied with it. Starting from mid-range to flagship devices, Redmi has got it all covered. Redmi launched two mid-range smartphones back in August 2019. Those two smartphones are Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. The latter one was the first smartphone ever to be launched with a 64MP camera.

Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro Android 11 Update Status

Recently, Google has launched its latest version of Android, known as Android 11. Google Pixels became the first smartphone to get access to the stable build of Android 11. Xiaomi has also announced its beta testing program for Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. A lot of Redmi Note 8 lineup users are in distress about whether they will be eligible for the update or not.

Both devices were launched with Android 9 Pie. Currently, Redmi Note 8 Pro is running on Android 10, while the Note 8 is yet to receive Android 10. Redmi Note 8 will likely receive the Android 10 update in September 2020.

Now, it looks like the Redmi Note 8 series lacks the latest beta testing program and the fully stable Android 11. The reason is Xiaomi usually rolls out one major OS upgrade to most of the mid-range Redmi devices. According to this theory, Redmi Note 8 Pro has exhausted its OS update quota. And for Redmi Note 8, Android 10 will be the last update that the device will receive as per the policy.

So, Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro users may not receive the next-generation Android 11 OS. However, Redmi Note 8 series users will soon receive MIUI 12, but it will be based on Android 10. You can check Xiaomi’s Android 11 status here.
