Oppo Android 13 (ColorOS 13) Update: Supported Devices

OPPO is currently rolling out ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 for its eligible devices. The update brought with it many new features and improvements to ColorOS. Although many OPPO devices are still waiting for the Android 12 (ColorOS 12) update, Google has already released the Android 13 beta.

In February 2022, Google released the Android 13 developer preview for select devices, which gave us a preview of Android 13 features. These features include better color theming, better media file permissions, and new styles and wallpapers. These features will likely come to Android 13 on ColorOS 13 as well. This might make many OPPO users wonder whether their device will get the Android 13 update. Read more to find out.

The Android 13 Beta is available to the public. It is rated to bring up a new permission system for media files. Users can now allow or deny access to specific media files rather than allowing or denying all media files at once. This means one can allow or deny an app to access audio, photo, or video files, specifically, one by one.

OPPO Android 13 Update Tracker

December 1: Oppo has shared the ColorOS 13-based Android December 13 stable rollout plan for the global market. Several oppo handsets will receive the stable update in December 2022, which includes Find X3 Lite, Reno 7 5G, Reno 6 Pro 5G, Reno 6 5G, Reno 5 Pro 5G, Reno 5 5G, Find X3 Neo, Reno 6 Z, Reno 5 Z, F19 Pro+ 5G and Oppo A74 5G.

October 18: Oppo has started the ColorOS 13 Beta program based on Android 13 for OPPO K10, A76, F21 Pro 5G, Reno8, Reno7 Z, F21 Pro, and A77. The program is currently available for a limited no of users.

August 18: Oppo unveiled the ColorOS 13 based on Android 13 for their OPPO smartphone on August 18, 2022. The latest ColorOS 12 update brings Always-on-display, Improved security, Visual changes, and the Multi-Screen Connect feature. The company says the new OS will hit Find X5 and Find X5 Pro handest by the end of August 2022.

August 15: Oppo has announced the ColorOS 13 Beta Batch 2 for Oppo Find X5 and Find X5 Pro in several regions.

August 10: Oppo will announce Color OS 13 on August 18 in the global online launch event.

August 8: 91Mobiles reveals ColorOS 13 will be announced globally in August 2022. OPPO Reno 8 series handset owners will receive the ColorOS 13 update in September 2022. The company has opened ColorOS 13 beta recruitment for public testing in Oppo Find X5, Find X5 Pro, and Oppo Find N.

August 1: Noted tipster Digital Chat Station claims that ColorOS 13 will go official in August 2022. He further said the first OPPO handsets to receive ColorOS 13 would be packed with the latest MediaTek and Qualcomm SoCs.

July 13: Google has released Android 13 Beta 4 for supported Pixel phones for final testing. Oppo Android 13 will likely be announced in Q3 2022. It will bring Material You Style Icons.

May 12: Google announced Android 13 OS on May 11 at its annual developer conference, Google I/O 2022. Android 13 developer preview for OPPO Find X5 Pro and OPPO Find N (China Only) is also live. This build is developed for certified developers, not for average users.

OPPO Android 13 (ColorOS 13) Release Date

• The Android 13-based ColorOS 13 update for Oppo devices was announced on August 18, 2022. Initially, the update will be released for Find X5 and Find X5 Pro devices by the end of August 2022.

For instance, the Android 12-based ColorOS 12 was announced in October 2021. So this year, we have seen the Android 13-based ColorOS 13 early.

Top ColorOS 13 Features:

1. New Design Changes

ColorOS 13 has a new Aquamorphic design, meaning that the UI elements will resemble water. The quick settings panel, settings page, and other UI elements have a blue theme inspired by the color of the water—the UI color changes based on how water changes its color from sunrise to sunset.

Furthermore, the system font has been made slightly wider for better readability. Moreover, some OPPO system apps like the calculator, the clock, and the recorder now have card-style layouts instead of just squeezing everything together.

2. New Widgets

ColorOS 13 brings a pack of new widgets for various apps. There’s the weather widget, the battery widget, which shows battery usage within a chart, two other clock widgets, and more. These widgets are interactive, not just there for the show. You can also place these widgets on the shelf menu, which can be accessed by swiping down the home screen.

3. Enlarged Folders

With ColorOS 13, you can easily enlarge folders to access apps in the folder. This lets you open an app without having to open a folder. You can even swipe within the folder and launch your favorite app.

4. Blossom Wallpaper

ColorOS 13 has a new live wallpaper called Blossom, which is no ordinary live wallpaper. This wallpaper is designed to show the growth of a plant to indicate how much time you’ve spent on your phone. The plant will start as a morning bud and continue to grow as you use your phone. If you use your phone for more than your set limit, the plant will turn into a metallic piece of art. Plus, the plant’s color matches the app you’ve used the most in the past hour. It’s a pretty cool feature to get an insight into your daily phone usage.

5. New Control Centre

ColorOS 13 introduces a new control center with enlarged toggles for two of your favorite quick settings. The music player has also been reworked to appear adjacent to the two enlarged tiles on the quick settings menu. The quick settings menu also has a new and improved layout for when you are in landscape mode.

6. Always-ON Display Changes

ColorOS 13 brings a massive update to the Always-ON Display. You can now get complete music control and a playlist of Spotify on the Always-ON Display. You can also get your order updates on food delivery apps such as Zomato and Swiggy on the Always-ON Display. Plus, there are some new animations, like a Polar Bear or Penguin moving on a block of ice or a clownfish moving around a coral reef.

OPPO has also collaborated with Snapchat to bring Bitmoji to the Always-ON Display. Lastly, you get a new Insight Always-ON Display, which shows how many times you’ve unlocked your phone and how many hours you’ve been using it throughout the day.

7. Privacy Changes

ColorOS 13 brings all the Android 13 privacy changes. These changes are standard to Android 13 like the system automatically deleting your clipboard history after an hour or the nearby Wi-Fi sharing feature. Besides the standard Android 13 privacy features, ColorOS 13 brings some unique privacy features. One of those features is called Auto Pixelate. This feature will automatically pixelate any username or profile picture within a screenshot or a photo of the chat you want to share. You also get a new private safe to encrypt your files and images.

8. Multi-Screen Connect

ColorOS 13 integrates tablets, phones, and computers more seamlessly than ever. Connecting your ColorOS 13 phone with a PC lets you simultaneously use three apps in separate windows. One of those windows mirrors your phone’s screen, and two for other apps. You can also drag and drop to transfer files between your PC and smartphone. All these features are also available on the OPPO Pad. Plus, you can share the same clipboard between your phone and OPPO Pad.

9. Omoji

Omoji, introduced with ColorOS 12, gets a nice update with ColorOS 13. You can now customize your Omoji with 136 new accessories, including new facial features, makeup, hobbies, and others.
