Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 was one of the stunning smartphones of last year. The bezel-less design with a massive display managed to capture many hearts. Now the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will be launching the Mi Mix 2S whose firmware files were leaked, giving an insight into the device. This is not the first time details about the smartphone have been leaked. Last week, a teaser video of the smartphone surfaced in Chinese media platform Weibo. The leaked suggested the smartphone will sport a 6 inch 18:9 display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and 8 GB RAM, 256 GB internal storage with 12 MP dual camera setup on the rear. The smartphone has also made an appearance on the Antutu benchmarking website.
Today’s firmware leak confirms the previous leak but also gave us new information. According to the firmware, the smartphone will feature a Sony IMX363 sensor. This dual camera setup will be the first for the smartphone series and also will carry additional features like scene recognition and other AI (artificial intelligence) tech. Though, there will be the regular MIUI features the object tracking, auto HDR and Chroma Flash are marked as “false” which suggest they may not be available in the final build.
As for the design of the smartphone, the new Mi Mix 2s sports a Full-Screen design 3.0 display in the available renders. It is a step ahead for the edge-to-edge displays. Though we can spot little side bezels, the bottom chin is even smaller than the MI Mix 2. The front-facing camera is now shifted to the top right corner of the smartphone which is barely noticeable.
Along with these features, the folks over XDA-Developers claim that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S will come bundled with Android 8.0 Oreo and will have Dual SIM support, an IR blaster and will be backed by a 3,400 battery. About the availability, it is speculated that Xiaomi canceled the launch of the Mi 7 at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018 scheduled to be held at the end of this month. So there is a huge tension mounting for the Chinese company who will likely to unveil the Mi Mix 2S at the event.
