How to Download & Install the Android 11 Update on Your Device?

Google has finally made an announcement regarding its latest Android update, which is Android 11. The most awaited Android 11 has tons of new features and is much improved than Android 10. Three Android 11 beta update has already been released during the period of August, and now the company has announced the stable update. This year, the stable update was a bit delayed due to the pandemic. Pixel 2, along with Oneplus, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Realme phones, will be the first to get the latest Android 11.

What’s New in Android 11?

The latest Android 11 has the following new features:

Conversation notifications

This is a very helpful feature as you can prioritize the notifications now on Android 11. You can categorize the notifications as conversations, alerts, and silent as per your choice.

Notification history

Another feature of Android 11 is every single notification that is shown on your device will be saved automatically. So you don’t have to worry anymore if you clear the notifications unknowingly.

Chat bubbles

With Android 11, you can use the chat bubbles with any type of chatting app. This will be a built-in feature and will help you to multi-task and respond to messages without opening the app.

Screen Recorder

Though the screen recording feature is available in most of the UI on Android 11, it will be built-in. So, the stock Android users will get screen recording features pre-loaded on the devices.

Smart device controls

Now, you can control all the smart devices like smart TVs, smart speakers, and smart lights connected to your phone through Android from one place. You don’t have to use separate apps for smart devices.

One-time permission and auto-reset

If an app is not used for a while, its permission will be revoked. This will help in maintaining the privacy and security of the user’s data.

You can now schedule the dark theme on Android 11. Set the light theme and the dark theme for some time according to your convenience.

Steps to Download & Install Android 11 Successfully

  • Open settings on your device.
  • Tap on the system and advance option.
  • Go to system update and check for updates.
  • If the latest Android 11 update is available via OTA, download it first.
  • You can also backup app data, call history, contacts, messages, etc (optional) by navigating to Settings > System > Advanced > Backup.
  • It will take several minutes to complete the download, so be patient.
  • Once the download is complete, ensure you have above 60% charge in the battery.
  • Install the OTA update (Your phone will be restarted automatically during the installation process).

What if you have not received an Android 11 OTA update?

If you don’t want to wait for the OTA update, you can participate in the beta program. But your device should be eligible for Android 11, and the company has to open a beta program to test early build.

If you are using devices other than Pixel phones, then, first of all, you will have to join the Beta program from the company. Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Realme, and OnePlus have already announced the Android 11 close Beta program for the developers. Currently, Oneplus 8 and 8 Pro have an open Beta Program where the users can install the beta update manually. Other OEMs will soon announce the open Beta program for their devices after fixing all the bugs through the closed beta program.

So, at present, if you want to install Android 11 now, then you must participate in the Android 11 beta program.
