Galaxy S26 Ultra’s CoE tech to enhance display brightness and efficiency

We still have two weeks away from the official reveal of the Galaxy S25 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is scheduled for January 22. Samsung fans are waiting to see what new Samsung will bring with the S25 lineup.

Meanwhile, a new rumor has emerged regarding next year’s flagship, possibly called the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The new rumor hints at an amazing display with new technology on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Now, let’s go into detail about the rumor.

According to a report from TheElec, the South Korean giant will implement the Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) technology on the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s screen. It will replace the polarizer implemented in the existing OLED screen and change the general Pixel Define Layer to a Black PDL. This technology, which is made for OLED panels, offers higher screen brightness and also enhances power efficiency. It also makes the screen thinner and increases light transmittance.

Interestingly, the CoE technology is not new, as the South Korean giant has already debuted this tech with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in 2021. Speaking of the recently released Galaxy Z Fold 6, it also uses an OLED screen with a Color Filter on Encapsulation tech, Sammyfans reports.

It is noteworthy that the rumor also says the new tech will be utilized in more candy bar-style smartphones in the future. However, there is no way to confirm right now whether CoE tech will be implemented in the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+. As with all rumors, no matter how credible the source, nothing can be confirmed yet, so you should take this news with a grain of salt.
