Snapdragon 439 vs Snapdragon 455 vs Helio P22

Snapdragon 439 vs Snapdragon 450 vs Helio P22: Which One is Better?

Smartphones in recent years have gotten smart. Budget devices perform better than ever before, and the gap between the budget and expensive devices has reduced substantially. This leap has been possible because of the improved performance of the low-end processors. Among them, the best in class are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450, Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 and MediaTek Helio P22. All three of them are processors we see most under 10,000 INR devices. So, let’s look at how they differ against each other.

CPU Cores & Clock Speed

From the hardware part of things, all three of them differ from one another. The Snapdragon 439 comes with an octa-core setup with two Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.95 GHz and two Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.45 GHz. The Snapdragon 450 has an octa-core setup with eight Cortex-A53 clockings at 1.8GHz. On the other hand, the Helio P22 comes with eight Cortex-A53 cores similar to the Snapdragon 450, but with each of them clocked at 2.0 GHz.

Manufacturing Process

As far as power efficiency is concerned, the Snapdragon 439 and Helio P22 are neck and neck as both are built with a 12nm process, while the Snapdragon 450 is the least efficient with a 14nm node.

GPU(Graphics Processing Unit)

As for graphics, the Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 450 are almost equal, with the SD439 coming with the Adreno 505 and the SD450 coming with the Adreno 506. There is not much of a difference here. However, the Helio P22 comes with IMG PowerVR GE8320, which, compared to its Adreno competitors, will fall short.

Memory Support

In terms of memory, we see the Helio P22 with the upper hand as it supports LPDDR4X RAM compared to Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 450’s LPDDR3 RAM support.

Camera Support

In the camera department, the Snapdragon 439 can support a single 21MP lens or a dual 8MP + 8MP camera configuration on the front and rear sides of the device. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 450 can support up to a single 24MP or a dual 13MP + 13MP camera configuration. Similar to the Snapdragon 450, carrying on with the same support, the MediaTek Helio P22 supports up to a single 24MP camera or a dual 13MP + 8MP camera setup.

Display Support

Moving on to the display, we have the Snapdragon processors on edge here as the Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 450 support up to 1080 x 1920 pixels Full HD+ resolution on the display. In contrast, the Helio P22 is stuck at resolution support of 720 x 1600 pixels HD+.

Connectivity

Coming to the data speed on offer, the Snapdragon 439 with its X6 LTE delivers a download speed of 150 Mbps and an upload speed of 75 Mbps. The Snapdragon 450 with its X9 LTE tops that with a download speed of 300 Mbps and an upload speed of 150 Mbps. Moreover, the Helio P22 follows in the SD450’s footsteps and provides a maximum download speed of up to 300 Mbps and a minimum upload speed of up to 150 Mbps.

Benchmark Scores

When tested out on Geekbench, some exciting results popped out. The Snapdragon 439 had a single-core score of 880 points and a multi-core score of 3,314. This outdoes Snapdragon 450’s single-core score of 787 points but lags in the multi-core score 3,991. So, in terms of a single processor, the Snapdragon 439 is ahead, and in terms of multiple processors, the Snapdragon 450 is ahead. The Helio P22 lay in the middle with a single-core score of 830 points and a multi-core score of 3,587.

In the Antutu benchmark test, the leader in this list is the Snapdragon 439 with 80,855 points; second, we have the Helio P22 with 76,855 points; and lastly, we have the Snapdragon 450 with 73,855 points.

Which One is the Better Processor?

It seems the Snapdragon 439 has an upper hand on the Snapdragon 450 in terms of performance. Besides that, both of them are pretty equally capable processors. The Helio P22 lies somewhere in the middle of these two. However, we can expect the Snapdragon processors to be more stable than the MediaTek’s Helio P22. If you are looking for a smartphone powered by any one of these processors, then you can buy a Redmi 8, Samsung Galaxy A20s, or Moto E6s.
