The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE launch was in the second half of 2020, and it was Samsung’s second-generation Fan Edition phone. The first one was the Galaxy Note FE in 2017.
The Galaxy S20 FE brought features like the Snapdragon 865 and many other flagship features at a more affordable price point. As a result, it was well received by the consumers.
It was initially launched with Android 10. It’s now on Android 13 with the on-time arrival of Android 11 and 12. Now, the Galaxy S20 FE has become the first phone to receive the August 2023 Security patch update, which is an excellent effort by Samsung to give updates on time to their old phones. This update is incremental, and Samsung did not disclose anything in the change log.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S20 FE (SM-G780G) comes with the firmware version G780GXXS6EWG9 (via Sammobile). The update has started rolling out in Paraguay, Bolivia, Brazil, Guatemala and Trinidad & Tobago.
There are no new features or performance improvements, as it’s only a security patch update. Samsung did not officially disclose which security flaws this update fixes.

More Samsung phones will receive the August security update in the following weeks. The flagship S series will mostly get the updates first.
In other news, fans eagerly await the One UI 6 Beta. We thought Samsung would announce One UI 6 at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July. However, only new hardware was announced, and the One UI 6 announcement did not occur. We can assume the Beta will go live in the coming weeks.
