iPhone SE 4 to Get Several Key Upgrades

Apple started their iPhone SE, or Special Edition, lineup in 2016. This lineup consists of much cheaper iPhones than the standard iPhone series. Since the inauguration of the Special Edition series, we have had 3 iPhone SE models, the latest one being from 2022. Apple plans to launch the iPhone SE 4 soon, with some rumors surfacing online.

The iPhone SE series has always severely lacked in the display and camera aspects. A recent leak suggests that Apple may change that soon. The leak states that the iPhone SE 4 will have a larger and better display than the iPhone SE 3.

The newer display would be a 60Hz OLED panel with LTPS technology. It will measure 6.1 inches. The overall look of the iPhone SE 4 may resemble the iPhone XR.

As for the cameras, the leak mentions that there will be a better camera on the iPhone SE 4. It is still likely going to be a single-camera system. On top of that, we may also get Face ID, which would mark an end to Touch ID on iPhones.

The performance of the iPhone SE 4 might be similar to its predecessor. That is because the leak mentions the chip on the former as A15 Bionic. This is the same chip used on the iPhone SE 3, the iPhone 13 series, and the vanilla and Plus models of the iPhone 14 series.

The connector port is one area where the iPhone SE 4 will see a major upgrade. It will feature a USB Type C port, which is very new to iPhones. As for the battery capacity, there could be a massive jump to around 3200 mAh, per the same source. For some context, the iPhone SE 3 has a battery capacity of only about 2000 mAh.

The leaker also hinted at the launch date being sometime around 2024 or early 2025. However, the exact dates are still uncertain. If we go by previous iPhone SE lineup launches, we can expect the launch to be in the first half of either year.

Lastly, you should note that this information is based on leaks and rumors. There is no official confirmation from Apple. So, take all of this with a pinch of salt. Specifications of the final product might vary if it even sees the light of day.
