iOS 16 to Bring Always-on Display, Lock Screen Widgets, and More

The new version of iOS (iOS 16) will be announced at Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2022 on June 6th. It will be a virtual event that will be held online. You can watch it live on Apple’s official YouTube channel or Apple.com. Apple is also expected to announce iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, and macOS 13 alongside iOS 16.

The announcement of iOS 16 is getting closer and closer. While the update is not yet official, leaks and rumors about the iOS 16 update have surfaced on the internet for a while now. People seem to be very excited and hyped for the update. Users especially have high expectations from Apple and iOS 16.

Previously, we were told that iOS 16 would be disappointing as it would not be a significant update. Plus, the potential delay further disappointed the users. Given how big of an updated iOS 15 was, Apple should work on iOS 16 and make it, too, a big update. But recently, when the iOS 16 announcement was less than a week later, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reported that iOS 16 could potentially come with some new exciting features like lock screen widgets, always-on display support, and much more.

Mark Gurman has a pretty good track record regarding Apple leaks. He reported that the upcoming update might come with new lock screen widgets- through a new wallpaper system and an always-on display. The always-on display will only be available for the iPhone 14 Pro, though. In addition, Mark believes we will see new social network-like features— particularly in the audio messages department. The addition of such features will make iOS 16 a pretty major update. However, we might be able to try out these features only after a long time.

Apple is very keen on trying to make things perfect. That’s why they always bring features very late compared to Android. The beta release, however, will still be delayed. The iOS 16 stable update should be released by the end of this year. Do note that nothing is official until Apple announces it at WWDC 2022.
