Galaxy S23 FE Design Renders Reveal Thicker Bezels and Larger Size

This January, Samsung didn’t launch an S22 FE to push consumers to get the more expensive S23. Besides, the S21 FE remains a decent deal today, with decent cameras and a flagship One UI experience as the key selling points.

Samsung’s FE lineup was never about crazy performance numbers and wasn’t about gaming performance or great chipsets. This upcoming S23 FE continues the same trend with a slight chip upgrade. It’ll use the Exynos 2200 instead of last year’s Exynos 2100. However, some rumors also state it could use the 8+ Gen 1.

The FE lineup also doesn’t have very bold and striking designs; the S20 FE was pretty plain, and the S21 FE was relatively minimal. The S23 FE will follow a similar design language to the rest of Samsung’s lineup.

In 2023, all Samsung phones, including the flagships, had the same camera module design for the rear. There are individual camera rings placed evenly in the left corner. Since most of their phones have three cameras on the rear, this layout works pretty well in keeping the designs minimal.

On the flip side, Samsung doesn’t have to innovate with design. They don’t have to pay designers since there’s pretty much no work in creating repetitive designs. Three rear cameras with even placement at the left are now Samsung’s signature design aesthetic. It’s recognizable but incredibly boring and helps ease the supply chain and distribution. It’s a clever cost-cutting move.

The S23 FE will continue the trend of near-flagship specifications and incredible cameras. Smartprix, in collaboration with OnLeaks, now shows us a heavily detailed 5K 360-degree render of what the Galaxy S23 FE could look like.

They have the signature Samsung logo at the bottom, and the render shows the phone in the black color option. It has triple cameras on the back. There’s a center punch hole, but the bezels are noticeably thicker than the S21 FE, probably for cutting costs. The camera module is different, too; you no longer get the contour cut design. It resembles every other Samsung phone that came out this year. It very closely resembles the A54, and there’s no camera island.

The S21 FE was 6.4″ in size, and there are conflicting rumors about the S23 FE’s size. Some sources say it’ll go up in size, but Smartprix still estimates the same 6.4″ size for this phone. The chipset details aren’t clear, either. Some rumors say it’ll have the Exynos 2200 everywhere, and others say it’ll have the 8+ Gen 1. It was on the Fold and Flip 4, so they might reuse the chip for the S23 FE.

The primary is mostly the GN3 50MP 1/1.56″ sensor. The S23 and S23 Plus also have this sensor, and it’s a major step up from the existing tiny 12MP sensor on the S21 FE. We expect a very similar 1080P 120Hz AMOLED screen for the S23 FE.

The S23 FE could also get a better telephoto since the current 8MP Hynix sensor isn’t the best on the market. There aren’t any credible leaks about the release date of this phone, but it’s probably coming out alongside the Z Fold and Flip 5 in July 2023. We expect a starting price 599$ for the S23 FE since 699$ is too close to the S23, which also goes on regular size.
