Exynos 2400 Chipset: Everything We Know So Far

Exynos chipsets, developed by Samsung, have always been a subject of controversy over the last few years. This is primarily because they are, in most cases, inferior to their rivals as overall chipsets.

And for this very reason, Samsung decided to ditch Exynos chipsets for their Galaxy S23 series earlier this year. Before the Galaxy S23 series, each model of the Galaxy S lineup of phones came with a Snapdragon variant and an Exynos variant for different markets.

However, Samsung may intend to go back to its old ways. The reason behind this is their new high-end chipset, which is under development as per leaks. It will likely be named Exynos 2400 instead of Exynos 2300.

Key Specifications of the Exynos 2400

Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)

This chipset will rock a new graphics processing unit based on information revealed via leaks. It will be based on the RDNA 2 architecture developed by AMD, with six workgroup processors (WGP). This makes it end up with twelve compute units compared to the three Xclipse 920 GPUs in the Exynos 2200.

On top of all this, Samsung has partnered with AMD and game developers to bring ray tracing technology to its chipsets. This will likely improve gaming performance and optimization on Samsung devices.

Central Processing Unit (CPU)

The upcoming Exynos 2400 chipset could be based on a 4nm process with a “lower power performance” node. Based on information revealed via leaks, the Exynos 2400 will sport a CPU with ten cores. These would namely be:

• One ARM Cortex-X4 core (3.1 GHz)
• Two ARM Cortex-A720 cores clocked at  a higher frequency (2.9 GHz)
• Three ARM Cortex-A720 cores clocked at a lower frequency (2.6 GHz)
• Four ARM Cortex-A520 cores for power saving (1.8 GHz)

This is more than what the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will supposedly have: eight cores.

Which devices will use the Exynos 2400 Chipset?

Since this is a flagship chipset, the Galaxy S24 series might feature it. We may also see it on foldables, tablets, or a Fan Edition model. However, it is still too early to speculate. Let us hope Samsung rebuilds the image of Exynos that it has lost over the years.

Update May 9: Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2400 chipset will likely feature in the Galaxy S24 series for the European and Southeast Asian markets.
