Huawei EMUI 10.1 Update: When Will It Come to Your Phone?

Huawei has released an updated version of EMUI 10, dubbed EMUI 10.1. In September last year, the company launched its Android 10-based EMUI 10 custom skin. It enables a seamless and connected experience to avail yourself across devices in all scenarios. Most of Huawei’s flagships, mid-rangers, and even some entry-level devices have already received the EMUI 10 update. Currently, more than 100 million devices around the globe have received the update. Now, EMUI 10.1, which is the latest version of Huawei’s Android skin, will start rolling out to all eligible phones. It brings Huawei Share, the latest themes, MeeTime, Multi-Device Control Panel, Cross-Device Photo Gallery, and more.

List of EMUI 10.1 features

  • New Assistant Celia
  • Huawei Meetime
  • Cross-device photo gallery
  • Improved Always on Display
  • Multi-window
  • Multi-device control
  • Huawei Music, News, and Video services

New Assistant Celia:

Since Huawei can’t really use Google’s mobile services, they are going to replace those services with their very own Huawei Mobile services. One of the new things we will see with EMUI 10.1 that comes with these new services includes a new assistant called Celia. The user needs to call out, “Hey, Celia,” and it will be activated. By just calling out to the assistant, one can assign various tasks to it. This includes asking questions, setting alarms, sending messages, calling someone, identifying objects on the screen, and so on.

Huawei Meetime:

Since Huawei phones will be missing out on Google Duo, they have developed their very own Video calling service called Meetime(which sounds quite similar to Facetime). Now, this new service won’t be just limited to Huawei phones, though, and anyone willing to use it can download it on their device. Now, this comes with a bunch of features, too, which include Full HD 1080p video calls, a low light mode for better quality calling in dim environments, and the most unique screen sharing. Now, users can make video calls via their Huawei Vision smart TV and Sound X speaker. This screen-sharing feature is not even available on Google Duo, so this is actually an improvement.

Cross-device photo gallery:

Huawei did not limit cross-device usage for video calling only as their new photo gallery also works on different devices simultaneously. It can be a smart TV, a tablet, a phone, or anything that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network, and users can just type in keywords to look through their photo gallery on any of their devices.

Improved Always on Display:

A feature that will be liked by many in EMUI 10.1 is probably going to be the always-on display. It comes with new themes and 3D designs with better-optimized battery consumption.

Multi-window:

With EMUI 10.1, we will also see the multi-window feature. There will be a side tray that can be accessed by swiping from the sides, and the user will see access here to certain apps and tools. Selecting any app will open up that app in a separate window. One can even select and drag pictures and texts from one window to another right away. There will also be a floating window feature where users can respond to messaging apps through a floating window. When a user taps on a messaging app notification, rather than completely going into the app, it will open up a floating window, which the users can use to respond without moving out from the app they are currently using.

Multi-device control:

This is a new feature that will come in real handy for users who have multiple smart devices set up around their workplace or place. EMUI 10.1 will give the users the liberty to use these devices directly from the mobile device. To access this control panel, the user needs to swipe from the right or left bottom corner, and it will bring up a control panel to add new devices or control the already connected devices.

Huawei Music, News, and Video services:

Huawei has teamed up with a number of services to provide their users with the liberty of accessing all kinds of music, news, and videos. They have teamed up with Universal Music, Napster, and Warner Music Group for music; News UK, The Times, The Sun, and talkSPORT for news; Discovery, FilmBox, eOne, BBC News, Youku, Lionsgate, Universal, Paramount, and Sony, etc for video content.
