When will Apple Announce the iPhone 15 Series Launch Event Date?

We are at that time of the year again. The new iPhone series is right around the corner, building its hype. We have no official announcement from Apple regarding the event. Still, Mark Gurman, a reliable tipster, mentioned in his Power On newsletter on Bloomberg that the iPhone 15 series launch event is likely to happen on Tuesday, September 12, or Wednesday, September 13.

If this leak happens to be true and Apple follows its usual post-launch schedule, then the iPhone 15 series will go on preorder from September 15 and be available from September 22.

Looking at the previous year’s trends, Apple events usually occur in September. Except for the year 2020, all major Apple events were in September. There were many delays in 2020 because of COVID and supply chain issues. In 2021, the iPhone 13 launch event was on September 14, 2021.

That was a Tuesday, but we can’t really find any proper patterns in Apple event dates anymore. While Apple usually conducts events on Tuesdays, they’ve also deviated from this several times in recent years. The 2022 event for the iPhone 14 series was on September 7, 2022, and that was a Wednesday.

The day when Apple announces the event remains unpredictable. Initial reports from 9To5Mac suggest that the event will occur on September 13, a Wednesday. However, another report from Gurman says it’ll happen on September 12, a Tuesday.

We expect Apple to officially announce the event on the site at least a week or two weeks in advance. So, at best, we should expect an announcement in the first week of September. If the event actually takes place at an earlier date, like the 7th, then we can expect the poster as early as August 31.

For more context, the event announcement for the iPhone 14 series was made two full weeks in advance. However, it was just one week for the iPhone 13 series. Many factors go into deciding the announcement and event dates, and it’s difficult to judge from rumors.

If we rule out holidays and weekends, then we have some possibilities. Apple could announce the event on August 29, August 30, or 31. If not, it might be announced on September 5, a Tuesday. Judging from previous trends, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the most likely dates for announcements, and Wednesdays are the least likely dates.

In this keynote, we can expect Apple to launch the successors of the iPhone 14 Series and, most likely, two new Apple Watches. The lineup of the iPhones will be iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max.

The Pro model will get the A17 chip, new titanium frame, slimmer bezels, USB C, 35W charging, and more. The Pro Max is said to get a periscope camera.

There’s a chance of Apple launching the second generation Apple Watch Ultra this year. We can rule out the possibility of the Watch SE since that watch typically gets a bi-annual launch cycle.
