We have our Oppo devices running on ColorOS 7, but soon, things are going to change. ColorOS 7 runs on top of Android 10, and it indeed brought many new awaited changes to ColorOS. This includes the dark mode, Breeno Smart Voice Assistant, Smart slider, Customize icon size/shape, and more. But updates are a part of any OS, and now we have the latest Android UI overlay dubbed ColorOS 11. In this article, we will take a look at all the features that are packed with ColorOS 11. Some of it was anticipated, while some was just a new addition. Also, we have added a list of eligible Oppo devices for the Android 11 update. Let’s find out.

What is ColorOS 11?

ColorOS 11 is Custom Skin based on Android 11, which Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo developed. It is the successor to the ColorOS 7. In addition to Android 11 features, the new ColorOS 11 brings UI Customizations, Relax 2.0, Three-Finger Translate, FelxDrop, Performance Improvement, and Super Power Saving mode. Initially, it was expected that the company would call the next version of ColorOS 7 – the ColorOS 8. But to maintain parity with Google’s Android 11, the company has named it ColorOS 11 instead of ColorOS 8.

Release Date

The ColorOS 11 was released on September 14, 2020. In November last year, Oppo released the ColorOS 7 beta based on Android 10 globally. But this year, the company unveiled the next iteration of Oppo’s Android skin in September 2020, along with its beta program. However, a stable ColorOS 11 update may begin to roll out with Android 11 for flagship devices from October 2020.

Here is the list of features of ColorOS 11

  • Customizable Dark Mode
  • A new level of UI customization
  • Three-finger swipe-down gestures for translations
  • Super Power Saving Mode
  • Floating windows for better multitasking
  • Promotes mindfulness with Relax 2.0

Customizable Dark Mode

Dark mode has been the main attraction on Android, and adding customization options on the new ColorOS 11 makes it more tempting. The ColorOS 11 added three profiles in the Dark mode section. For starters, the Enhanced option is the default dark mode you see in all the phones. The other two are what make it special. The second option, the Medium, gives you lighter tones, which you can say are lighter black, and the last but not least is the Gentle option, which switches the screen to Grey color.

Customizable Dark Mode

The Dark mode comes with three more features: you can adjust your backgrounds or wallpaper with the option you choose, you can further adjust your icons to dark mode, and lastly, you can schedule dark mode from sunset to sunrise.

A new level of UI customization

People like an OS more when they can customize to the extent, and ColorOS 11 lets you do it. Firstly, to create a customized background, you just have to add a picture, and the OS will analyze the color and provide you with a unique background. You can even customize icons, themes, and accent colors as per your preference. Secondly, you can customize your own ringtone, which is very intriguing. Lastly, you can create unique patterns for your Always On Display (AOD).

A new level of UI customization

Three-finger swipe-down gestures for translations.

The ColorOS11 allows you to translate instantly with three-finger swipe-down gestures. The particular gesture will take a screenshot, pull out the Google translator, and will instantly translate to your preferred language. It’s an easy way to translate without heading to Google Translate. To make it easier, Oppo even assembles the Google Translate in the smart sidebar.

Super Power Saving Mode

More battery means more entertainment. The ColorOS 11 has a battery saver in-built and has two features of a battery saver. The normal power-saving mode and the super-saving mode. The Super saving mode is what makes it more interesting. The feature will let you choose six apps to run on the saving mode, and it turns off the rest of the apps.

Super Power Saving Mode

Oppo claims that even if you have a 5% battery charge, you can use WhatsApp for 90 minutes, which is great for battery performance. The Oppo is bringing a new feature called the battery guard, which helps prolong your battery life. At night, when you plug in the device and sleep, the mobile will charge only up to 80%, and the rest of the 20% will be fully charged before you wake up. This feature will make sure your device isn’t fully charged overnight, which drains the battery life.

Floating windows for better multitasking

Floating windows are always on the show in the Oppo devices. This particular feature is of great help as you can use multiple apps simultaneously. The feature is now called the FlexDrop. They further enhanced the floating windows, which let you resize an app per your preference and can fit anywhere on the screen.

Promotes mindfulness with Relax 2.0

The new Relax 2.0 will let you create customizable profiles where you can choose a certain duration and even customize the sound as you want. The team of Oppo went to Tokyo, Bangkok, and Reykjavik and added the sounds of those places into the app. The feature can calm you and bring peace to your mind.

Though the rest of the phones are currently running on Android 10, it looks like Android 10 is the last update for these devices. So, don’t keep your hopes high.

  3. It seems that you do not have the updated information. Oppo F15 Pro still has not seen a full Color OS 7 roll out. I’m struggling to include myself in the trial which is limited to 2000 users only. Oppo has made Android update a mockery, supported by half baked information.
