Vivo Xplay6 New Update Brings Facial Recognition Feature

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo launched their Xplay6 smartphone with a hyperbolic display last year. The device has received a new Funtouch OS update, bringing advanced features like face recognition.

The Funtouch OS update version is 7.11.10, measuring 170.2 MB, where the most important feature is facial recognition. The process doesn’t use hardware like the iPhone X TrueDepth Camera but uses a software algorithm like the OnePlus  5T. It uses the front camera to calculate the depth of field information and match the identification with the available data to unlock. Although many users will fear for security reasons, the device has a fingerprint sensor.

Additionally, the update improves the system security and stability, third-party application App compatibility, and system optimization to connect the Bluetooth playback.

The Vivo XPlay6 sports a 5.46-inch AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and Dual Edge technology and is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor with Adreno  530 GPU coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal space. It sports a dual camera setup on the rear consisting of two  Sony IMX362  12 MP + 5 MP  with aperture f/1.8, OIS, PDAF autofocus, and dual LED dual-tone flash while offering a 16 MP camera on the front. It initially ran on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with FunTouch UI on top and is backed by a 4080 mAh battery.
