Samsung is preparing to launch its next big software update, called One UI 8.5. It could arrive in early 2026 alongside the company’s new flagship phones, the Galaxy S26 series. This update may bring several improvements, including a refreshed design, upgraded system tools, and new AI-powered features that will make everyday use smarter.
According to reports, One UI 8.5 may ship with the upcoming Galaxy S26 phones. However, ahead of that, the company may open a beta program for select models such as the Galaxy S25 series, likely by the end of 2025. The company may expand the final software to eligible Galaxy devices during the first half of 2026.
As always, new foldables, S-series flagships, and high-end Galaxy Tab tablets may get the update first. Samsung will then continue with a second wave that covers older premium models, followed by a wider rollout to mid-range Galaxy A-series phones. That means by mid-2026, most supported Galaxy models should already be running One UI 8.5, though the exact timing may differ depending on country and carrier.
Samsung has decided to release a x.5 update instead of a smaller x.1 or x.1.1 patch. It looks like the company wants to deliver a bigger package of features in one step. More importantly, the company has also reportedly timed its major updates to coincide with its flagship device launches. This will surely help create more excitement for the new software.
