Samsung has paused the One UI 8 (Android 16) rollout for the Galaxy S22 series, just days after it began. The update, which started reaching users in early October 2025, has now been removed from Samsung’s OTA servers across multiple regions, including India and Europe.
A Twitter user, Akhilesh Kumar, first spotted the change when the One UI 8 update vanished from Samsung’s update servers. The user shared screenshots showing that the firmware files for the Galaxy S22 series were no longer available, suggesting that Samsung had quietly pulled the rollout.
Why the Rollout Was Halted
Samsung hasn’t issued an official statement, but early reports suggest the update may have caused stability and performance issues, including battery drain or app crashes. Such pauses are common when serious firmware bugs are detected post-release.
What It Means for Users
- If you haven’t updated yet, the One UI 8 option will no longer appear in your settings.
- If you have already installed it, you can’t roll back officially, but Samsung is expected to release a hotfix or patched version soon.
What’s Next
Samsung will likely re-release One UI 8 after internal testing is complete. The Galaxy S22 series is still expected to receive One UI 8.5 next year with additional improvements.
