Galaxy S24, S24 plus Vertical Middle Frame Design

Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ to Adopt Vertical Middle Frame Design Like iPhone

Six months have passed since the launch of the Galaxy S23 series. However, there are already many leaks about the Galaxy S24 series. The S24 Ultra is supposedly getting a significant upgrade to the 3X lens, improving the zoom between 3X and 10X. We could also get a titanium frame for the Ultra model.

While there are camera hardware upgrades to the Ultra model along with a probable design change, there wasn’t much info about the vanilla models. The base S24 and S24 Plus will probably have very similar specifications to the S23 and S23 Plus.

Samsung currently uses a 10MP 1/3.94″ 3X telephoto for the S23 and S23 Plus, and it’s the weakest part of the camera system. The photos end up noisy and don’t retain much detail and definition. The Ultra has a slightly better 1/3.52″ 3X telephoto, but it’s also not great. Since Samsung is upgrading the telephoto on the Ultra to a much larger 50MP 1/2.52″ sensor, we hope it makes its way down to the S24 Plus at least.

For two years, Samsung typically sticks to the same design language on the vanilla models. The S21 and S22 have the contour-cut triple camera module on the top left. The S23 removes the contour cut design and puts three camera rings on the left.

This is Samsung’s new design language for their camera modules across their entire lineup. There are no camera contour cuts or unique camera module designs. Their phones look the same from the back, featuring three individual camera rings. While this is good news for those buying the cheaper models, others don’t like this move as much.

If Samsung follows its usual trends, then the S23 and S24 should look near-identical from the back. We can expect the same triple camera module with individual camera rings at the top left. While there were rumors that Samsung could drop the Plus model for 2024, it still exists, and we hope they improve the specifications.

According to a famous leaker, Ice Universe, there’s a new design for the frame of the S24 and S24 Plus. It’s an entirely vertical frame design similar to every iPhone from the iPhone 12 series. While the Ultra will probably get Titanium, we expect the base models to stick to Armor Aluminum.

middle frame design

This is standard practice, considering Apple’s vanilla models still have aluminum frames. The completely flat sides with a squared-off design language are similar to the S22 Plus and S22 designs. This move makes sense since the S24 and S24 Plus will have flat screens. The S24 Ultra with the curved screen will get curved sides so users can hold it better.

Flat sides are also more durable, and fitting components internally is easier. It also looks decent and is much easier to grip and hold than curved sides. Many people dislike the sharp middle frame of the S23, and this will finally change that.

Samsung hired a former Benz designer, Hubert H Lee, to design their smartphones and other accessories. It’s unclear whether his contributions will apply to the S24 and S24 Plus, but we assume they’ll only be reserved for the Ultra model.

We recommend waiting for further leaks since there’s no confirmation or images. Please take this information with a pinch of salt until we see other rumors.
