Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) Specs Leaked Online; May Appear at CES 2018

It’s been a year since Samsung launched the J5 Prime, and the company is set to launch this year’s version. The upcoming device also recently appeared on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website with model number SM-G571F. Today, a leaked image revealing the smartphone’s specs has surfaced online.

According to the spec sheet, the Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) will have a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 ×720 pixels. The device will be powered by a Quad-core Exynos 7570 chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz, along with a Mali-T720 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of Internal storage, which is further expandable up to 128 GB using a micro SD slot. In the optics department, the Galaxy J5 Prime (2017) will feature a 13 MP camera sensor on the rear with an LED flash, while the front will have an 8 MP camera sensor for selfies and video calling. The device will be running Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and according to a previously leaked list, the smartphone will not be getting an Android 8.0 Oreo update. But its predecessor got a Nougat update, so there is hope. The device will also carry a bigger battery than its predecessor- the 2016 Galaxy J5 Prime. The new device will be powered by a 2500 non-removable mAh battery.

The device also appeared on GFXBench. The FCC reports the presence of Bluetooth 4.2 Low-energy (LE), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and 4G LTE. The previous version of the J5 Prime was priced at Rs. 12,390 for the 16 GB storage version, while the 32 GB storage variant was priced at Rs. 14,900. The specs show that the new version will likely be priced similarly. The FCC certification also hints the device is close to launching. A rumor suggests the device will debut at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas early next year, along with the 2018 Galaxy A5, A7, and A8 smartphones.
