Find Out if Google Pixel 9 Series Has Wireless Charging

The smartphone wireless charging trend has recently caught significant attention. All smartphone manufacturers focus on providing wireless charging support to their devices. Since the technology is expensive for now, it is rarely used in budget phones.

The Wireless Charging technology should be used during emergencies; otherwise, it is not recommended to be used regularly. For now, the wireless charging is not working efficiently. As per reports, it reduces the battery’s lifespan relatively faster than wired charging because of more heat generation. Using the official wireless charger to save your battery life is important.

Is Wireless Charging Available on the Google Pixel 9 Series?

  • The recently launched Google Pixel 9 series includes wireless charging support. The Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold all support this technology.

However, the official chargers (wired or wireless) don’t come out of the box; you will have to buy them separately. They support Google’s wireless or Qi-certified charging. Nonetheless, wired charging is always faster than wireless charging.

Wireless charging has become a very convenient feature to have. You don’t have to struggle with wires and tangles since you only have to place your device on the respective charging pad—no hassle for searching for respective cables or the supported adaptor.

Pixel 9 Wireless Charging Speeds

We are all aware of the fact that smartphone OEMs rate the chargers in Watts (W), whether wired or wireless. The 65W, 125W, and 200W are all some of the fastest speeds available around the globe. The China groups like Oppo, Vivo, and Huawei have reached the peak heights of providing one of the fastest charging, but Apple, Samsung, and Google lag behind.

The wireless charging support for the Pixel 9 devices is as follows:

  • Pixel 9: 12W (Qi charger) or up to 15W (Pixel Stand).
  • Pixel 9 Pro: 12W (Qi charger) or up to 21W (Pixel Stand).
  • Pixel 9 Pro XL: 12W (Qi charger) or up to 23W (Pixel Stand).
  • Pixel 9 Pro Fold: 7.5W (Expected/ No official confirmation).

Note: The Google Pixel Stand mentioned above should be of 2nd generation. The Qi-certified charging should be EPP (Extended Power Profile) chargers sold separately. However, the results may vary with different chargers and will likely be restricted to 12W across all Pixel devices.

The above charging is not satisfactory for the majority of the users. Some of the smartphones across the globe support up to 125W fast wired charging and up to 50W fast wireless charging. However, if we compare with the competitors (Apple and Samsung), Google Pixel is relatively better.

We have to see how fast Google covers up the fast charging trend. For now, the Pixel 9 series supports limited charging capabilities.
