A few days ago, we saw the leaks about the camera hardware specifications of the Pixel 10 series. The base Pixel 10 adds a telephoto camera for zoom but downgrades the rest of the camera hardware. The other models have hardware that is mostly similar to that of the previous generation. Now, the pricing of the Pixel 10 series has also leaked, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is going to cost less than last year’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Android Headlines claims in an exclusive post that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold might receive a price cut.
The first Pixel Fold launched at 1999$, and it was extremely outdated in both hardware and aesthetics. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a major overall improvement in terms of both specs and design, and it also came with a 200$ price cut. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is knocking off another 200$ from the price, bringing the cost to 1599$, which actually makes it quite a good value foldable device. For reference, the listing price of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 1899$, and the Pixel is considerably cheaper.
The phone will most probably launch in August 2025, along with the rest of the Pixel 10 lineup. The source also mentions that Google will continue this trend of dropping the prices of the Pixel Fold model. In 2027, two years from now, the Pixel 12 Pro Fold will apparently get another 100$ price cut, bringing it to 1499$. Assuming this leak comes true, the product will finally be a lot more accessible to people after carrier deals. Google is able to drastically drop the prices since they’re using older hardware, which becomes cheaper to manufacture.
Despite earlier leaks that Google might stop making the smaller 6.3″ Pro Pixel model, these leaks are allegedly false. These smaller models will stay in the lineup all the way till 2028, which is at least till the Pixel 13 models. The lineup is fairly straightforward at the moment. The Pixel A series model, the base Pixel model, two Pro models in two different sizes, and the foldable model. The same number of models will continue until 2028.
The Pixel A series will not undergo any price changes for the next 3 years. Till 2028, the Pixel A model will remain at $499 and will serve as an entry point to the Pixel line. It’s still significantly cheaper than the base Pixel model, which is 799$ at launch. However, Pixel drops prices eventually, and the Pixel 9 is currently selling at under 649$.
As for the Pixel 10, it will mostly start at 799$, which is the same as last year. However, the Pixel 10 Pro XL could get a price hike of 100$, which will move it from 1099$ to 1199$. This widens the gap between the Pro model and the Pro XL model even further. The leaks also mention that the Pixel 10 Pro XL might no longer have a 128GB model. Instead, it will start at 256GB, and this is a very similar strategy to what Apple has done before.
