Game Crashes reported by Galaxy S24 Ultra users

Galaxy S24 Ultra Users Frustrated by Frequent Game Crashes

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra is one of the most powerful smartphones commercially available as of now. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. Qualcomm made this processor in partnership with Samsung.

On paper, this SoC is a reasonably big upgrade over last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. In technical terms, the 8 Gen 3 supports ray tracing, and its GPU performance surpasses Apple’s A17 Pro. It even beats its competitors, like the Tensor G3, in overall performance.

While purchasing, S24 Ultra users imagined a smooth and immersive gaming experience thanks to the beefy processor. And this experience was indeed delivered to most of the users. However, a few of them can’t say the same.

Some users have reported various games crashing on their latest Galaxy S24 Ultra. The experiences are varying. Some users say it’s the game-specific optimization issue, while others say it’s Samsung software’s issue. Nonetheless, it has affected a fair amount of its users.

Galaxy S24 Ultra Game Crashes

The experiences include games crashing, freezing, or even refusing to load. Some of the games that have this issue are Hustle Castle, Pokemon Go, Roblox, Paper Evolution, Paper.io, etc. A few of these either crash randomly or refuse to open. Heavier titles with the crashing issue reported include Honkai Star Rail, Left to Survive, Doomsday Chief Alghmity, etc.

Some games that don’t have any reported crashes so far are Wreckfest, Call of Duty, GTA, and Fortnite. These issues have prompted many of the affected users to consider returning their phones. The users have expected a smooth and consistent gaming performance with a high-end processor, which the Galaxy S24 Ultra isn’t able to provide.

The phone boasts a 1.9X larger Vapour Chamber than its predecessor, the S23 Ultra. This effectively eliminates concerns about poor cooling being the culprit behind these issues. The S23 Ultra did not have any issues with games crashing. Another reason not to blame the cooling solution is some of the games with the issue. The game titles with the issue include very basic games like Paper.io, which work smoothly on entry-level phones.

However, we cannot blame the game developers either. The issue is happening to various games with different developers.

Potential Solutions

Unfortunately, you have little you can do if you have this issue on your device. Some users suggest force-stopping, clearing the cache, and clearing data of the game, followed by a phone restart. Another option is installing the game from the Galaxy Store. The phone may be having compatibility issues with the Play Store. As a last resort, you can also try factory resetting your device.

Some users on Reddit claim it’s an issue with the graphics drivers of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. If that’s the case, both Samsung and Qualcomm need to work collaboratively on this issue and release a fix at the earliest.

This is just one of the several reported issues of the S24 Ultra. We hope that Samsung fixes all of them as soon as possible.
