Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra renders and specs leaked

According to several reports from reliable leakers, the S24 lineup is ready to launch a bit earlier than usual in 2024. Samsung usually hosts its Galaxy Unpacked events in February, but this year, they’re introducing the S24 lineup a month earlier, possibly on January 17th. From an exclusive report via Windows Report, the series has a very similar design language to last year.

There were many leaks about the design of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and it remains nearly identical to the familiar individual camera ring layout on the S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra. However, the new leaks also show the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus. The S24 Ultra will ship with the following color options:

  • Titanium Black
  • Titanium Gray
  • Titanium Violet
  • Titanium Yellow

The online exclusive color options are mostly:

    • Orange
    • Light Blue
    • Light Green

S24 Ultra

We expect Samsung to heavily market the use of Titanium since it’s the first time they’re using that material on a smartphone. The S24 and S24 Plus will stick to Armor Aluminium. Titanium enables much better strength and drop resistance, and the phone is lighter and more comfortable to hold. The material is a lot more premium.

While the rear design of the S24 Ultra is similar to last year, with the same camera rings, the front is completely different. Samsun has removed the slightly curved display. The curvature is gone; the screen is a perfectly flat screen now with very thin and even bezels all around. There’s still the punch hole at the center.

Leaks say the S24 Ultra will get a better 200MP 1/1.3″ primary sensor. It’ll have better video recording capabilities and HDR improvements. Samsung has to address the problems with image processing, like artificial sharpness boost and poor noise reduction. Unfortunately, the S24 Ultra will no longer have the excellent 10X optical zoom lens.

They’re swapping it out for a much larger 1/2.52″ 50MP periscope, but it only has 5X optical zoom. The long-range zoom is definitely going to suffer. This is still a more practical zoom range that enables 120mm portraits. This directly competes with Apple’s implementation of a 5X periscope.

In other specs, we’ll get the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which scores around 2200 on the single-core Geekbench test and might reach 7000 on the multi-core test. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 worldwide. The cooling system is apparently 1.9X larger than the S23 Ultra.

We expect the same 5000mAh battery and 45W charging, a 1440P 120Hz AMOLED display, etc. Unfortunately, the 3X telephoto, which is the worst-performing lens on the S23 Ultra due to its tiny 1/3.52″ size, is not getting any updates on the S24 Ultra. It’s still the same 10MP sensor 1/3.52″ sensor.

For the base S24 and the S24 Plus, we expect the below color options. We’re not sure about the online colors for these models.

  • Onyx Black
  • Marble Grey
  • Cobalt Violet
  • Amber Yellow

s24 plus

The S24 and S24 Plus have a lot less going for them in terms of updates. The design is effectively the same. Some of them will get the Exynos 2400 SOC, and some of them will get the 8 Gen 3. According to many leaks, the S24 Plus will get a massive upgrade to the display panel. It will allegedly ship with a 1440P 120Hz LTPO display.

The S24 also gets an upgrade to a bright LTPO panel, but it’s still at 1080P. The S24 will mostly get no changes to the camera hardware, and the only noticeable change is the chip swap. For the Plus mode, it’s the higher resolution and of course, the new chip. We’re not sure if the S24 Plus will have any new camera hardware. All the phones will ship with even larger vapor cooling chambers to control the thermals better. It’s a welcome move, considering the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is a very powerful SOC.

In other specs, the S24 and S24 Plus will mostly ship with a 50MP (main)+ 12MP (ultrawide)+ 10MP (3X telephoto). The S24 will have 25W charging, while the Plus will get 45W. The battery sizes could also go up this year. Unfortunately, there’s no 16GB RAM model this time. It starts at a very disappointing 8GB RAM, and it goes up to 12GB RAM. The base models will allegedly start with only 8GB RAM for a 2024 flagship- that’s very weird.

A key selling point for the S24 lineup will be its Artificial Intelligence capabilities. They’re trying to take on Google with some in-hoise AI tools. We’ll get much better photos since it uses AI to zoom anywhere and clean up the output. There’s a new Live Call Translate feature. Samsung could also introduce Genrative AI, and also improve their voice assistant. It could have some advanced search capabilities and translate even messages in real-time.
