Samsung Galaxy A11 is receiving Android 12-based OneUI Core 4.1 update

It’s almost the end of 2022, and Samsung has finally released the Android 12 update to its Galaxy A11, and this could be the last major software update it gets. This phone came out with Android 10 and was launched in the first quarter of 2020. Note that phones from the Galaxy A1X series are entry-level budget phones. So it’s understandable that this phone is getting the update late, more than a year after Google announced Android 12.

As you may know, Samsung’s budget phones and tablets do not run the vanilla version of OneUI. Instead, they run a lighter version of it called OneUI Core. The Galaxy A11 will receive OneUI Core 4.1, based on Android 12. According to SamMobile, the firmware version for this update is A115FXXU3CVI3, and it will come with the August 2022 security patch. Only Sri Lankan phone users have gotten the update; the rest of the world will probably get it within October 2022.

Go to the Software Update section in the settings and hit the Download and Install option to check for the update or to install it if your device has gotten it.

Key highlights of the Android 12 update on your Galaxy A11

First and foremost, you will get the Colour Palette feature on your phone. This feature extracts the dominant colors from your phone’s wallpaper and applies them to various UI elements. This is based on the Monet theming introduced in Android 12.

Apart from this, the other design changes include a new charging animation, better volume and brightness sliders, a slightly different and polished Quick Panel, and several minor changes in the system UI. The Edge Panel has also been improved.

Now, moving on to the critical functional upgrades, which users do not notice immediately, several of Samsung’s apps have been improved. For instance, there are several enhancements in the camera app, the gallery, the calendar, and others.

Besides all of this, this update will also fix several privacy and security issues.

Keep this in mind before you update

Let’s be fair. This is a two-year-old budget device. On top of that, OneUI has a heavy Android skin. Even if this phone runs the Core version of OneUI, it is still pretty loaded software for an old device with low specifications. Therefore, we think it would be better not to install the update if you do not care about the latest features or are a power user.

However, if you use your phone for basic stuff like texting, watching content, using social media apps, etc., you may try the update. It’s a nice update in terms of features, after all.
