Apple’s M5 iPad Pro to enter mass production in second half of 2025: Report

Apple is reportedly working on its iPad Pro lineup for next year, which will use a new M5 chip.

Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote in a post that mass production for the M5 iPad Pro will start in the second half of 2025. He further said BYD Electronics will be the device’s main assembler.

The inclusion of the M5 chip in the next iPad Pro isn’t surprising, as the current models run on the M4 chip. While details about other specs remain unknown, no major changes are expected to be made like the M4 models released earlier this year.

According to a report from The Elec, Apple has ordered M5 chips from TSMC, and that chipset will be manufactured using a 3-nanometer process. So, Apple currently has no plans to use TSMC’s more advanced and expensive 2nm process.

Despite this, the M5 chip will likely offer notable upgrades over the M4 chip, thanks to TSMC’s System on Integrated Chip (SoIC) technology.

Talking about the launch timeline, we already have a good idea of when the M5 iPad Pro might arrive if we follow Apple’s typical fall schedule for product launches.

The company usually announces new iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods at its September event. In October or November, new iPad Pro models and Macs go official. Also, Apple refreshes the iPad lineup roughly every 18 months.

The current M4 iPad Pro launched in May 2024, so this suggests October 2025 as a potential launch window.
