Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Spotted on Geekbench with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chipset

The South Korean tech giant is expected to launch its next-generation flagship series — the Galaxy S23 series. The series is scheduled to hold the regular Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S23+, and the top-of-the-line flagship from Samsung for the year – the Galaxy S23 Ultra. As the tradition goes, the series is expected to arrive as early as 2023, starting in January or February. Still, there is enough time to launch the Galaxy S23 series. Still, the devices’ rumors, leaks, and listings have already surfaced online, revealing the same pictures, specifications, performance, etc.

Two or three days earlier, the vanilla S23 US version from the three flagships appeared on Geekbench, revealing some key specifications. The model number is likely to be ‘SM-S911U’ (‘U’ – Indicating a US variant), and the Geekbench scores showed the performance chip used in the compact flagship, i.e., the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Today, one more device from the S23 series has appeared on Geekbench with model number SM-S918U, the topmost flagship — the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which also revealed some of the specifications of the respective device. The motherboard from the listing is codenamed ‘Kalama, ‘ the same as the regular S23.

The CPU information reveals that it has eight cores. The primary core of the processor is clocked at 3.36 GHz, the four coordinating cores are clocked at 2.80 GHz, and the efficiency cores are clocked at 2.02 GHz. With this, the device’s processor has been confirmed to be the upcoming unannounced Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 from Qualcomm. The regular S23 is also expected with the same SoC.

The Geekbench listing also confirmed that the device would have a minimum of 8GB RAM and consider it a premium flagship. We can expect more RAM configurations, also. The device will be coming out of the box Android 13, and the listing confirms this, too.

The single-core and multi-core scores of the Galaxy S23 Ultra that appeared on Geekbench are 1,521 and 4,689, respectively. For reference, the regular S23 variant scored  1,524 and 4,597 points, respectively. This much is only confirmed about the Galaxy S23 Ultra from the Geekbench listing. There is nothing more to look forward to for the device.

Last time, the same device appeared on China’s 3C Certification with the downgraded 25W fast charging support compared to its predecessor. Nothing else seems to be upgraded in the S23 Ultra except the camera and processor. Talking about the camera, the device’s primary camera is expected to be the upgraded 200MP primary camera. Apart from this, the rear design of the device is also likely to be slightly different from last year’s S22 Ultra.
