OPPO’s upcoming Find X10 series could put eye protection at the center of its display upgrades. A leaked post shared by Digital Chat Station claims the phones will use a newly co-developed display substrate designed to reduce harmful blue light while increasing beneficial red light.
The same panel is also said to support an ultra-wide BT.2020 color gamut, suggesting OPPO is trying to improve eye comfort without compromising color reproduction.
A new approach to eye protection
According to the leaked information, OPPO’s new display substrate is specifically designed around eye protection. The company reportedly wants to reduce harmful blue-light exposure while increasing the proportion of beneficial red light the panel emits.

That approach is different from simply applying a software-based blue-light filter. Traditional eye-comfort modes often shift the screen toward warmer colors by reducing blue-channel output. While effective for changing the light profile, they can also alter how images and videos look.
OPPO appears to be pursuing a hardware-level solution instead. The leaked post claims the Find X10 display can achieve the industry’s highest level of beneficial red light alongside the lowest level of harmful blue light.
Those claims will need independent testing before their significance can be established. Blue-light exposure is only one factor affecting visual comfort, with brightness, flicker, viewing distance and viewing duration also playing roles.
Wide color coverage is part of the same goal
The eye-protection system is not being developed at the expense of color reproduction. The leaked material claims the new panel supports the industry’s highest BT.2020 ultra-wide color gamut.
BT.2020 covers a substantially wider range of colors than DCI-P3, although actual content must also be mastered for the wider gamut to make full use of it. The combination suggests OPPO is targeting a display that can maintain accurate, vivid colors while using a different light-emission profile.
That balance could matter more than the headline gamut figure itself. A display that requires an aggressive eye-comfort mode to reduce blue light can noticeably change the appearance of content, while a hardware-level approach could potentially preserve more of the original image.
Thinner bezels are also expected
OPPO is reportedly using two new display production lines to manufacture the Find X10 panels. The leaked post claims the new production process will help deliver ultra-narrow bezels, along with the updated display substrate.
However, the eye-protection technology is the more interesting part of the leak. Flagship phones already have highly refined displays, so another small reduction in bezel width may be less noticeable than improvements that affect how the panel behaves during prolonged use.
OPPO has yet to reveal exact measurements for the claimed blue-light reduction or beneficial red-light output. Details such as PWM frequency, brightness levels, and independent eye-comfort certifications will be important once the Find X10 series becomes official.
The leak also claims competing manufacturers are working on similar display technologies, but their implementations may not arrive until next year. If that timeline holds, OPPO could be among the first major phone makers to bring this particular hardware-focused eye-protection approach to a flagship display.
