Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 FE: Everything We Know So Far

The Samsung Tab S7 FE is an excellent tablet for those who want a high-quality device without spending much money. The FE series of Galaxy Tab replaced the Lite series, with the last being the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. Samsung usually launches a Lite/FE version of its Galaxy Tab every year. So, what’s next? It’s the Galaxy Tab S8 FE. This article will look at everything we know about the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, including its release date, specifications, and price.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 FE Release Prediction

  • The Galaxy Tab S8 FE will likely be released in February 2023. RGCloudS says that Samsung plans to hold an entirely new event called Unpacked Part 2 (tentatively). He expects the Unpacked Part 2 event will take place in February 2023.

The FE version of Galaxy Tab is released one year after the regular models are released. For instance, the Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ were launched in August 2020, and almost a year later, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE was launched in May 2021.

Last year, Samsung released the Galaxy Tab S8, S8 Plus, and S8 Ultra in February 2022. So, based on past trends, we can expect the Galaxy Tab S8 FE to release in February 2023.

The GeekBench test results of the upcoming tablet were leaked back in September. Leakster Roland Quandt now authenticates the leak in a tweet where he confirms the model number (SM-X506B) and the codename (Birdie) of the Galaxy Tab S8 FE. And yes, these match the model number in the GeekBench test result leaked earlier this September. This means that the launch is not too far now.

Note that there is no official information regarding the Galaxy Tab S8 FE release date. These are only speculations based on past releases and leaks. We will have to wait for an official announcement to get more accurate information.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 FE Expected Specifications

The GeekBench test also revealed some of the key specifications of the Galaxy Tab S8 FE. As expected, the Galaxy Tab S8 FE will have an LCD screen. Although there is no information on the display’s refresh rate, we can expect it to be 60Hz or 90Hz.

Also, as per Roland Quandt’s tweet, the Galaxy Tab S8 FE will have stylus support with Wacom Digitizer.

As revealed by the GeekBench test result, the Tab S8 FE will be powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 900T processor. It is a 6nm processor with 2X Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz, 6X Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz, and the Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. This architecture is very similar to the MediaTek Dimensity 900.

The GeekBench test shows the clock speed of the Cortex-A78 cores to be 2.6 GHz. So, we can conclude that this processor is perhaps an overclocked version of the MediaTek Dimensity 900. And thanks to the integrated 5G modem on this processor, the Tab S8 FE will also support 5G.

RGCloudS said that the Geekbench listing of Tab S8 FE with Mediatek Kompanio 900T chipset was for testing purposes. He further said Samsung will use a 4nm Exynos 2300 processor on Tab S8 FE.

The Galaxy Tab S8 FE will also carry 4GB of RAM and run on One UI 5 based on Android 13. However, we can expect a 6GB RAM model too. The tablet will likely come in two storage options— 64GB and 128 GB. It should also have a pretty large battery and 25W fast charging support. However, the charger will not be included in the box.
