Apple Smart Home Hub launch delayed, might come later this year

In a new Power On newsletter on Bloomberg, renowned Apple analyst Mark Gurman talks about Apple’s plans for this year. One of the things he emphasizes is the company’s intentions for its smart home products.

More specifically, he mentions that the smart home hub that has reportedly been in the works might see a delayed launch. This product also referred to as the Apple Command Center, was expected to come out in March of this year.

The probable cause of this seems to be the delays related to Apple Intelligence. The operating system on the device apparently relies a lot on the App Intents features arriving in upcoming versions of iOS (iOS 18.4 and iOS 19).

As per a December report, Apple might release a “HomePod with a display” in the third quarter of 2025. It was not clear at first which device this report was referring to. But it now seems to be the smart home hub, as the report aligns with Gurman’s predictions.

About Apple’s Smart Home Hub

The device will likely feature a 7-inch display and a camera in terms of hardware. Users may be able to either mount it on a wall or set it on a dock that Apple is apparently working on.

As for the software, it may come with an entirely new homeOS operating system, with support for various Apple apps. Since the device is going to feature a camera, we can expect it to focus more on video apps.

Apple Intelligence will also play a major role in helping users control their smart home setup efficiently. All in all, we hope this turns out to be a great addition to Apple’s already-packed list of 2025 products.
