While we have received and covered details of several midrange to high-end NVIDIA RTX 50 series GPUs, we have not heard about the lower-end ones until now. An LG Gram 2025 laptop featuring the RTX 5050 has been spotted, revealing some details about the card.
According to the leaker who has shared this information, the RTX 5050 is going to feature 8GB of GDDR6 memory. This comes as a disappointment as all of the other RTX 50 series cards we have details of are expected to feature GDDR7 memory.
Note that this is, of course, not official, as LG has only announced RTX 40 series models for now. The model featuring the RTX 5050 is still on the way, though. The company has likely just scheduled its announcement for later. This is possibly due to NVIDIA refraining from unveiling their RTX 5050 card at CES 2025.
Previous leaks show GDDR7 memory on the RTX 5050
While this new leak may be disappointing, there is still some hope. Earlier leaks have shown that the RTX 5050 graphics card will feature GDDR7 memory, although still just 8GB. We hope that turns out to be the case, as GDDR7 will expectedly bring serious improvements over GDDR6.
Moreover, we have also seen impressive performance from the rest of the RTX 50 series cards. For instance, the RTX 5070 will reportedly rival the RTX 4090 in performance, as stated by NVIDIA itself. We can expect similar gains from the RTX 5050 as well, given that it comes with GDDR7 memory. We will find that out soon, as laptops featuring the card are likely going to hit the shelves in a couple of months.
