Here’s when to expect iOS 18.3 official version release

Back in June last year, Apple made some big promises with iOS 18 at the WWDC24, with a major focus on Apple Intelligence. The software was then released to all compatible devices in September, shortly after the launch of the iPhone 16 series.

Since then, the company has rolled out two major updates to the software. The latest version currently sits at iOS 18.2.1, as users wait for iOS 18.3. It is currently in the beta testing phase.

iOS 18.3 beta 2 out; official version soon

The second beta of iOS 18.3 came out just a couple of days ago, on January 7th. If you are enrolled in the beta testing program, you can download it from the Software update section in General settings.

The release cycle of iOS 18.3 Beta updates has been similar to that of iOS 17.3 Beta from last year. The first beta came out in the second week of December for both. The second beta updates for both roughly have the same release time window as well.

Considering this, we can expect the official version of iOS 18.3 to be out by the end of this month (January 22, 2025?). The official version of iOS 17.3 was out to the public on January 22, 2024. Before that, the company released the third beta of iOS 17.3 on January 9th and the release candidate (RC) version on January 17th.

On a related note, the same is true for iPadOS 18.3. Its official version will very likely come out alongside iOS 18.3.

What to expect in iOS 18.3?

Although the iOS 18.3 update is expected to be a major one, it will mostly focus on fixing bugs and issues. Some small new features, like expanded support for more appliances in HomeKit, may also be there, along with a few minor tweaks scattered throughout the software.

Several Apple Intelligence features are reportedly coming later this year, possibly with iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4.
