Xiaomi’s Gaming Smartphone “Black Shark” Launched with Controller Dock

Xiaomi-owned Black Shark launched their first gaming smartphone in China on Friday. The smartphone will directly compete with the Razer gaming phone launched last year in November and the rumored gaming smartphone from ASUS. The phone measures 161.62 x 75.4 x 9.25 mm and weighs 190 grams. The company also revealed the AnTuTu score for the smartphone, which is 2,79,464.

The Black Shark Gaming smartphones feature the same green and black shades as the Razer phone. It features a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of FHD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels), which contains support for DCI-P3 Wide color gamut that goes up to 97 percent and has brightness up to 550 nits. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with Arduino 630 GPU and offers variants with 6 GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage and 8 GB RAM+ 128 GB internal storage.

In the optics department, the smartphone sports a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of a 20 MP sensor and a 12 MP sensor with f/1.75 aperture and LED flash. The front offers a 20 MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calling.

A 4,000 mAh battery support backs the smartphone with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS. Sensors on board include Gyroscope, geomagnetic, Accelerometer, Proximity, and Ambient Light Sensor. Amongst other features, the smartphone contains a multi-stage direct-touch integrated liquid cooling system to prevent smartphone overheating. Also, the smartphone is equipped with an X-type antenna, which ensures connectivity in both landscape and portrait mode, avoiding the grip of death.

As for the pricing, the 6 GB variant is priced at CNY 2,999 (Rs. 31,100 approx), while the 8 GB variant comes at a price tag of CNY 3,499 (Rs. 36,300 approx). They are available in Polar Night and Sky Grey color variants.

Xiaomi also has a controlled dock for the Black Shark gaming smartphone, which costs CNY 179 (Rs 1,900 approx). The controller includes a joystick and a trigger button, which can be connected to the handset. Currently, there is no word about the smartphone launch in other markets.
