Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its dual-camera smartphone, the Redmi S2, which recently appeared on TENAA and has passed the 3C certification authority.
Now, it seems the pre-production units are out in the open as a source from the Czech Republic has posted some high-resolution photos online and some details. The markings on the front and back clearly hint it’s a pre-production one. The speculation is that the source is linked to the Xiaomi store, which will be a proper explanation of how the image first came into place.
From the earlier leaks, the Redmi S2 sports a display of 5.99 inches. It comes with a resolution of HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) and an 18:9 aspect ratio. An Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset will power it. It will be offered in three storage variants: 2 GB RAM + 16 GB internal storage, 3 GB RAM + 32 GB internal storage, and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage.
In the optics department, the Redmi S2 offers a dual camera set up in the back consisting of a 12 MP primary camera sensor and a 5 MP secondary camera sensor to sense depth and add a bokeh effect to your photos. It offers a 5 MP camera sensor for selfies and video calling on the front. It will run MIUI 9 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo and be backed by a 3080 mAh battery. It also contains a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a micro USB connector. The smartphone measures 160.7 x 77.3 x 8.1 mm and weighs 170g.
The recent and previous appearance hints at a launch soon. The leaked sources also attached a Czech invitation for the device. There is no word on the price, but it will be launched in the Honor 9 lite category.
