Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is geared up to launch its upcoming smartphone, Mi 6X, also known as the Mi A2, in Indian markets this week on April 25. The company is also working on another smartphone, Redmi S2, which sports dual cameras and will be made only for the Indian markets.
An unknown smartphone with entry-level specs has been certified by the Chinese regulatory authority TENAA. From the specs, it is speculated to be the Redmi S2 from the images from TENAA. The smartphone sports a full-screen display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and dual cameras on the rear stacked in a vertical position with a fingerprint sensor, just like the Mi 6X. The Antenna bands cover the top and bottom parts of the smartphone. The power button and volume rocker are on the right, while the SIM card slot is on the left.
As for the specs, the smartphone sports a display that likely measures 5.99 inches. It comes with a resolution of HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) and an 18:9 aspect ratio. An Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset will power it. It will be offered in three storage variants: 2 GB RAM + 16 GB internal storage, 3 GB RAM + 32 GB internal storage, and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage.
In the optics department, the Redmi S2 offers a dual camera set up in the back consisting of a 12 MP primary camera sensor and a 5 MP secondary camera sensor to sense depth and add a bokeh effect to your photos. It offers a 5 MP camera sensor for selfies and video calling on the front. It will likely run MIUI 9 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo, backed by a 3,000 mAh battery. The smartphone measures 160.7 x 77.3 x 8.1 mm and weighs 170 g.
The recent appearance in TENAA makes it clear that the device will be launched either this month or the next. There is no word on the price, but it will be launched in the Honor 9 lite category.
