Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro Offcially Launched in India

Xiaomi big offering to India this year is a new global smartphone and a rebranded Redmi 5 Plus

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi today officially unveiled the new Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. A few days ago the company was seen sending invitations of the event with the focus on the number 5.

Among the smartphones, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a completely new offering from Xiaomi and making its global debut in India.  The display of the device is the same as Redmi Note 5’s 5.99 inches, but under the hood, there is a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with 4+4 Kyro 260 CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz and Adreno 509 GPU. The device is available in two memory variants: 4 GB or 6 GB, both offering 64 GB of storage.

In the optics department, there is a dual camera setup on the rear consisting of 12 MP primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 5 MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture for depth sensing. The smartphone also comes with the face unlocking features, which is the first Xiaomi smartphone to sport this tech.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro runs on MUIU 9 based on Android Nougat and is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery but with no fast charging and USB Type-C. The 5 Pro is available in Black, Gold, Rose and Blue colour variants.

The second smartphone, Redmi Note 5 is just a rebranded Redmi 5 Plus for the Indian market. As for the specs, it features a 5.99-inch display with 18.9 aspect ratio and a resolution of FHD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels). It has rounded corners and 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Chipset coupled with either 3 GB RAM + 32 GB internal space or 4 GB RAM + 64 GB internal space.

The rear offers a 12 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture while the front offers a 5 MP camera with LED Flash for selfies and video calling. The smartphone runs MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.0 Nougat and is backed by a same 4,000 mAh battery with no fast charging and connected by a micro-USB port. The Redmi Note 5 is available in Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Blue colour variants.

As for the pricing, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is priced at Rs 13,999 for the 4 GB variant and Rs 16,999 for the 6 GB variant. The Redmi Note 5 comes with a price tag of Rs 9999 for the 3+32 Gb variant while the bigger 4+ 64 GB variant costs Rs 11,999. The first sale will start from February 22 on Flipkart and the official MI website Mi.com. It will eventually come to offline stores too.
