Xiaomi R1 Render Leaks; to Cost Around Rs 14,800

Currently, there are no leaks regarding the specification of Xiaomi R1

According to the rumours, Xiaomi will launch a budget-friendly full-screen smartphone before the end of the year. Today first renders of the alleged Xiaomi R1 device has surfaced on the web. The image shows the device adopting the bezel less trend of this year. This device is expected to initiate the R series of Xiaomi smartphones which will be placed at the mid-range segment.

The newly leaked render shows the Xiaomi R1 having a few bezels upper and lower sides of the Samsung S8 series. Though the display is likely to have an 18:9 aspect ratio its screen ratio will be lower than the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. The device is expected to feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a metallic body. The device has on-screen buttons and a USB Type C port, but there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack visible at the bottom. It seems the smartphone will be sporting dual cameras on the front for enhancing selfies and video calling.

The  Xiaomi R1 will be introduced to compete against the likes of Chinese counterparts like Oppo and Vivo. OPPO has recently launched its OPPO F5 device, Vivo has the Vivo V7, and even Honor has launched the Honor 9i with four cameras. Xiaomi has currently no device to compete in these segment expect the Redmi Y series which are underrated compared to them. Also, Samsung is set to launch its mid-range smartphones with the infinity display. The Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) which will be coming in the first quarter of next year are gonna give a tough time to these smartphones.

The Xiaomi has not announced the specs of the R1 yet but if rumours are to be believed the Xiaomi R1 would be arriving with a price tag of 1,499 Yuan (Rs 14,800 approx). Its also expected to be more affordable than the upcoming Redmi Note 5 which also feature similar bezel less full-screen display. Xiaomi is expected to launch a couple of smartphones before this year ends, such as Redmi Note, Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus and Xiaomi MI 6C.
