Last year Xiaomi and some other manufacturers joined Google in the Android testing program of Android 11. This year too we have seen something similar. Google has released the beta build of Android 12 for the Pixel devices. And we will see the stable builds of Android 12 rolling out in the Q3 of 2021. However, Xiaomi has also joined the beta program to provide early access to its users.
Xiaomi launches a wide variety of devices in every category almost every month. Sometimes it’s a device under the Redmi lineup, sometimes under the Mi lineup. When a company launches several smartphones every year, it becomes difficult to provide a proper software update for all of them. But that is not the case with Xiaomi. Xiaomi pushes out regular updates to its smartphones and this year around too, we should expect something similar in terms of the Android 12 update. Xiaomi will push out the Android 12 based MIUI beta update for their flagship series smartphones. This will give developers an ample amount of time to work on their applications for the next iteration of the Android

Release Date
The stable Android 12 update for Xiaomi phones will roll out after the stable version of Android 12 is released by Google in the Q3 of 2021. Xiaomi will take a couple of months in launching the stable update of Android 12 based on MIUI. We can expect it to be somewhere around the Q1 of 2022.
Will my Xiaomi phones be eligible for Android 12?
Xiaomi indeed has a long list of smartphones. We have the MI series, the Redmi series and also the Redmi Note series. The company usually pushes out two major Android update for the Mi Series of smartphones. For the Redmi Note series of smartphones the company usually pushed out one major OS update in the past. However, recently the Redmi Note 8 series received the second major OS update, the Android 11 update. So based on that, one can assume that the Redmi Note series from Xiaomi will now receive two major OS updates. Then we have the Redmi K series which is like the flagship series under Redmi. Xiaomi provides support for two major OS updates for this series of smartphones too. Finally, we have the budget Redmi series which receives only one major OS update.
Based on this, we have compiled a list of Xiaomi devices that should receive the Android 12 update when it officially rolls out. Some of these devices might receive the update much later than others, but they should eventually get the Android 12 update.
